i have only been in to see the fine folks at the service department two times since i bought my cayman in January. Both times i mentioned that i had brought up whatever the issue was (a bad clutch at first, then a rattle during warm up) to some fellow cayman owners and what their insight was. the reaction i got was 'huh'? like, how do i know any cayman owners, since the model is new and cayman owners are a rare breed at this point. i mention 'you see, i belong to a web forum called caymanclub, and many of us own caymans and discuss our different experiences with them....'
the reaction then goes from 'huh' to 'ohhhhh'....if i could read their minds i think i would hear...'oh, brother...hes, one of those internet forum junkies, that thinks everything he reads is true, and everyone on there is a porsche expert!'
the service managers have never been rude to me, but i guess i found them somewhat dismissive...i felt like the kid in the class who raises his hand to eagerly answer a question only to find out his answer is absoulutely wrong and the the class snickers as the teacher looks on scornfully....(guess you can tell i ve been there..)
well, i guess i just wish that they were more open to the experiences and information provided by scads of other owners. I have found the information provided here to be much more reputable than other forums i have been to, and we dont seem to have much of problem with a 'wanna be' group of trolls...knock on wood...
hopefully someday caymanclub will have the reputation of being the best online source of information for the porsche cayman...
Geez I thought we already were the best resource for Cayman information the web along with the official PCA Cayman register. Next time mention PCA to them and they may be more forgiving, as they probably just have experience with those 'other' forums that tend to bash they Cayman... imo caymanclub is the best
resource available on the internet for porsche cayman info and resources. its the rest of the porsche community that needs to realize it. thanks for the note on PCA...i will keep that in mind next time...

Yes there are other forums. Go there and make a post and be sure to check it every time you change your clocks back to see if anyone responded this year.
Buying the Cayman S has been made a much more pleasurable experience because of this forum and to have you guys on hand is something I havent had with any other car out there I thing this forum is unique and that Porsche should acknowledge it! we collectively provide the best service out there to the Porsche Cayman - well done to all participants and the founder!!
RedRocket- When discussing my car research to my sales guy I mentioned this web forum and I got a positive response. - ' What site was that?, I'll check it out'
SJD- There is www.caymanforums.com and www.rennlist.com but there is not much activity and its a bit boring. This site is way better and you can get a good daily fix to-boot.
this forum is the best place to get the true info on the cayman. thanks ken for starting this website.information is power in todays world!!
When I went shopping in late April, I brought up the change in color availability i.e. the blue swap. One sales guy was adamant that they'd never make Cobalt blue less expensive and that I obviously didn't understand Porsche's premium color rationale.
I hope he remembers our little chat when he sees the new ordering guide. GO CC.net!! Hehehe.
