Was informed this morning, by Atlanta not by dealer, that my Cayman S is on the m/v Nada V due to dock San Diego 7-3. We're the couple who did factory delivery May 12 and returned the car to the factory exactly 3 weeks ago. See cargolaw.com and go to 'Scheldt Snafu' (scroll WAY down) to see pics of this vessel in a collision 3 years ago! Can't happen again, right? Found this while looking for tracking info, which I did not find. This wait is easier than the first one, now that we have ship info.

Hmm. My dealer told me that my car was built on 6/2 and he said he would give me an update once it was on a ship. I'm in OC, so I'm guessing the car will either go to San Diego or Long Beach (dealer mentioned San Diego). Maybe we are on the same ship.

I got a car from my dealer on 6/6/6 saying the car went into production that day, depending on how long it takes to build and get to the boat it is possible my car is also on this boat, if not then the next one probably. If I don't get a call I will check into it next week.
Miscellaneous additional info. My salesman says San Diego is only port for Porsche forall West Coast. That could get cars to Orange County sooner than would a stop at a port further north. He also says sold cars 'go to the head of the line' to get on a truck.
Other guys on here will know better than I (and please chime in if so), but I saw the 911 assembly line and from bare, painted shell to finished car seemed to take maybe 45 minutes. Some workers happened to be on beer break (really) at the time, so hard to judge. Of course engines are assembled on another line. Also, there is body fabrication and painting ahead of this and, if required, a trip thru the Exclusive dept for any optional trim bits, after. So my GUESS is perhaps a week or more total scheduled build. Incidentally, they pride themselves on a relatively slow-moving line so workers are not rushed which they did not seem to be. Not much automation here; just for front and back glass installation and multiple spindle torque wrenches in engine assembly. Want more? Well, this assembly line is on two floors. So the pallets holding the bare bodies start on top, at one end, and reach the other about half finshed. Then an elevator lowers them to continue in the other direction. BUT the first station after the elevator ROTATES the cars so they are not proceding tail first. They say this is justified because there had been a higher error rate (left/right confusion?) in this section when the cars moved backwards. No Caymans are built at Zuffenhausen and I don't know how that line may differ.
My dealer said they build them in a day. Keep in mind that almost all of the sub-assemblies are complete prior to D-day. They told me my car went to a special section of the factory, I assume after semi completion for the special leather and interior finishes.
My ship docked in Long Beach prior to arriving in San Diego on June 9th. Porsche has a pit crew that does final assembly at the dock in San Diego. I was told they install the bumpers and unblock the springs etc. I received my car Tuesday June 12th,
