Speed Yellow base Cayman photos.

As mentioned in another thread, my dealer received its first (non S) Cayman yesterday. I snapped a few pics.It hadn't been fully prepped yet so I couldn't get a test drive.

BTW, note the EPA highway mileage rating on the sticker - amazing, don't you think?

Thisis a dealer car & wasn't ordered for anyone. That is, it's for sale. If anyone is interested, call Mindy (she was my salesperson), Parktown Porsche (St. Louis) at 314-965-7711 or email her. Nothing in it for me. Just trying to help out anyone who may be looking.

The exhaust tijp doesn't do it for me. I bet most base Cayman owners will be swapping that one out.

The front rotors on the Cayman S are 12.5' vs the base Cayman's 11.7'. The larger rotor will dissipate heat better resulting in (theoretically) more fade resistance under heavy use. The rears on both models are the same 11.8' but do a fraction of the braking work.

no way is it gonna get that kinda mileage....kinda reminds me of the exagerated estimated mpg on our Cayman S's...looks very similar to the S except the few little things mentioned...those wheels gotta go. ill bet lots of new cayman non S owners will be looking for aftermarket wheel solutions.

Not the way we would drive it. You might get 32 mpg on the highway if you cruise at a steady 45 mph in 5th gear.

I quite like the wheel size of 17inch withtall tyres.I think 19 inch wheels withlow tyres looks a bit out of proportion.

Pity that Turbo forged wheelsaren't available in 17 or 18'.

Chip off the block. Like the stock 18' S wheel better.

I agree. The 18s look better. Many base Caymans will be swapping to either the 18s or 19s and the tip. Possibly even the brakes too give or take a year. You wouldn't be able to tell a base from an S if the base was debadged.

STLPCA: Thanks hugely for nice set of pix - multiple angles especially appreciated. I think 17' wheels look a little lost in those wheelwells, but if option prices are same as Boxster then 18' wheels will cost a bundle (and maybe not worth it to me). I'll have to see what the 17' wheels look like in person.

Freddy

If there are anyspecific pics you'd like, or if you'd like high res images, let me know. I'll probably visit my dealer one eveningthis week & would be happy to shoot more.

I'm sure you'll be able tofind Cayman S 18' takeoffs at decent prices from S owners who upgrade to aftermarket 19s. I ordered my CS w/std 18s which I'll use for track & easily found a new takeoff set of 19 Classics at an attractive price for my daily use.

STLPCA: Thanks for offer of more pics, but not needed. I have a dealer only 2 miles away, and will be haunting him at the end of the month. And Thanks for wheel info; Maybe I'll just get the std 17' wheels and worry about going to 18's later (if I'm not totally happy with the 17's).
