Hi Everyone.


I have just recentlypassed 1750 miles on my cs and to my surprise I was impressed in how the car seems to be performing. Second gear always felt a little sluggish when trying to accelerate from about 2500 rpm without too much pull. This morning I felt as if the motor was 'freed up' and really pulled very well as I normally shift to second at about 35mph. I hope this is the sign of break in and will continue to improve. I have taken the car to about 6000 rpm through the gears, maybe its time to find the rrev limiter.

Have you done any mods (air intake)? I have 1500 miles and all is well. The only difference I have noticed is when I did the mod, it nows seems more responsive.

I'm at 2100 or so and I definitely started to feel a difference at around 1800 miles. Both engine reeving and gearshift just get 'looser' and more relaxed.

Yes you will feel a significant difference as the motor breaks in. I felt it around 1800 miles in my 997.


I test drove a Cayman S with 25 miles on it, then another Cayman S the next day with 2000 miles on it. It was night and day between the two. I could barely tell the difference between the Cayman and my 997 in power, moreso when I activated the SC.


BTW I'm at 5K miles on my 997 now and havenot neededto addoil. I must have seated those rings properly [img]/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/tounge_smile.gif[/img]

During the break-in I took longer trips and my l/100Km was around 10 or 11 - now as I start to push the car it has gone up to about 13.5 - I have about 65000Km. On most cars the mileage would go up and I suspect it does the same on the Cayman, but once the car is broken-in I think most people want to push it hence most will have worst fuel economy [img]/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/drivingskid.gif[/img]

I now have almost 4000 miles on my CS, and I have just noticed what seems to be a more lively response to throttle inputs. I have not de-snorked yet. Hoping to see a few more pre-post Dyno's before I decide. I attribute this new liveliness to break in. It is great!

I noticed a change somewhere between 1900 and 2000 miles, and I desnorkled at 600 miles. I rarely use the sports button any more. Inoticed amuch happier reving engine. It climbs up the revs much quicker.
