Tires

I wish we could choose which tires come with our Cayman. I just hope mine does not come with Pirellis. I had two Boxsters with these and they were really noisy after the first couple of thousand miles. I really want the Michelins, I'vegot them on my current S and they are great.

Right now I believe the OEM tires for the Cayman will be Michelins or Contis.........of which I like both. I do think the Michelins are slightly better, but the Contis are a well made tire and offer great performance also.

I asked when I took the Carrera Classic option and my dealer told me they were Michelins, but I wouldn't bank on it they have been very uninformed on most of my other questions.

I think all 19's ride on Michelins for the Cayman, and the 18's are either Michelin or Conti, but mostly Michelin.

It's gotta be 1 of the 3... when you go to tirerack.com an search 265/35/19, those are the only 3 that come up! Damn they're expensive too....>300 each! And they probably only last 15k, 10k they way I'll drive. So you wanna drive a Porsche with 19s uh?... better be a baller!

I have P-Zero on my BMW and like the grip, but now that I think about it, they are a bit noisy ;-) Can't beat the yellow 'in your face' P-Zero stickers on those tires - do any of the other tires have any stickers or are they all black ?

Oh boy... looking at the available tires in 18', there are very few choices available if one would want to go wider. To replace 235/40 tires with equal or near equal diameter and RPM, need to get 265/35s and to replace 265/40s, need to get 305/35s

And not many manufacturers carry those sizes unfortunately, could not even find them with Michelin or Toyos. It of course gets even worse for 19' wheels.

I guess I may have to stay with original sizes, but R-comps at those sizes are as tough to find as well [img]/fckeditor/editor/images/smiley/MWPX/angry_smile.gif[/img]
