Steering Wheels

So after ordering my car wih the thicker wheel on saturday received a call from my dealer today to say that it's not available for order at the moment. Which leaves me with a problem?

which wheel do i go for? Ideally i want one of the sports wheels with a circular hub, but there appear to be too many different options. Can anyone help by providing pics / experience of the wheel they've gone for? My issue stems from the fact that i currently drive a BMW 330ci sport, whch has a chunky M wheel and i find the porsche ones a little too thin.

thanks in advance.

I do not understand why the thicker steering wheel is not available. Why do they bother to put it in the car configurator. Very annoying!

I also drive 330 ci Sport at the moment and it is one of best steerin wheels I have used.

In my Cayman S, I have specified the three spoke sports steering in smooth leather. I was nearly going to get the thicker one.

Bummer. I ordered mine with XPA thicker sport steering wheel. It should arrive by months end. I'll post detailed pics when it arrives. -Steve

Thanks liverpool - for the moment i have told my dealer to spec with the std sport steering wheel (not smooth leather) - however apart from the obvious (smoother leather) - is there any other difference between the sports with and without smooth leather?

Also - how does it feel compared to the BMW wheel, does it have even some slight padding?

Am quite annoyed by this but what can you do? From what i understand porsche options seem to drop in and out of the configurator by will. Sucks in a big way.

Unfortunately not as good as the BMW but it does have some slight padding.

Ruth was my salesperson as well. When I bought my Boxter S from her she said to me 'better buy it today or it will be sold'. This p****d me off so I took my time and surprise, surprise the car was still there. I hope she has mellowed out a bit. Does she still look like Pat Butchers younger sister?

I feel these sales people should no the specs inside out and we should not expect a call saying that a spec choice is unavailable.

Anyway my Boxter S had partial leather and the steering wheel felt like something from an 80's Datsun. It can only be better!

I ordered XPA and received my car this past Saturday. I moved from a 2001 BMW 330Ci as well and I had the thick and beefy M3 steering wheel. To be honest, I was underwhelmed by XPA (ordered sight unseen). The leather was certainly very smooth, but the girth is just not there comparing to the E46 M3 steering wheel. Everything else about the car was perfect though....

elam, that blows on your perception of XPA. It costs $1050, it damn well should be worth it.
