Here is what the Cayman *should* have looked like!

What do you guys think of the newest 9ff powerkit look?

The kit liberates 40WHP and includes 9ff's carbon fiber airbox/BMC filter, headers w/ cat bypass, the dual exit exhaust, diffuser (unpainted) and its all tied together by9ff's ECU wizardry. They are also preparing a kit which includes their sport cams. The kit with sport cams will increase power by 60Hp - beyond the X51 engine swap!!

http://shop.eurocarboutique.com/Caym...e_P426C167.cfm

Of course, for those that demand even more power, the 388HP and 424HP crate motors are still available.

BTW, the 9ff cayman CR42 was recently tested against the 997GT3...guess who got the better lap time??

Yep! Cr42.

looks really good. i am more impress with 9ff each day. keep up the good work of informing us.<o></o>
i will make a decision soon...<o></o>
imo, 9ff's only viable competition is RUFF. RUFF is working on a supercharger (they call it Compressor) with ETA in September for $24k with approximately 90HP+ increase. this will include ECU, exhaust system, and supercharger.<o></o>
Yeah its amazing how it makes the std center exit look really wimpy. Completely distinguishes the cay from the Boxster! Really makes me wonder why Porsche didnt do it this way...oh well. Kill two birds with just one stone (actually 8800 bones)...

Okay...here's another

IMO supercharging an NA engine is a bad idea. There are many blown carrera motors out there that will bear evidence to this. When you then consider the higher cornering loads that the Mid-engine cayman can generate - failure at the track becomes even more of a risk. The final nail in the coffin for the SC for the cayman...is heat. There's simply not a good way to get the motor cool.

Believe me, we have pressed 9ff to do something like this - as it would be big seller. However, 9ff's stance is that every upgrade has to be a completely engineered solution that would work on one of their own VIN'd cars. Who knows. Either way - different strokes for different folks. Either way, the +60HP powerkit w/ cams for $12k-14k should be a safer alternative to a Kompressor.

Either way, its a VERY exciting time to be a Porsche enthusiast. It really feels like the Cayman has injected a lot of new sporting blood into the porsche world. The 911 purists were starting to take over with their old school air cooled bull...

let them drive their carreras back and forth to the nursing homes, while the new school takes over!!

k...one mo fo sho!

Hmm.. 60hp N/A with just cams, exhaust, intake and ecu.. thats pretty sweet.

Now the question will be to ruff with the S/C if they will be able to offer an engine warranty with the S/Cer and will there be a cam package available to bump that up as well. the Tq numbers should be crazy.

But if you can get 60hp out of a package the same as ruffs but instead of a S/Cer you use cams, I would hope ruff can offer a package with 120hp gain with out upgrading internals other then cam swaps.

25K is a bit on the steep side for only 90hp using the same block & heads. Exhaust and tune is what about $9k so the SC is running you $15K.. That is crazy. $10k would at least be somewhat reasonable.

For just a few more thousand you could go with an upgraded engine instead and have a better platform to work with.

$12-14K for the cam power pack is pretty sweet deal.

How much work is it to swap the cams on these engines..?

ECB - your advice is solid...heat dispersion will be key.

I consider myself an 'old school' 911 sentimentalist. I love the old 911's. But I cannot turn a blind eye to what is going onand what the future of Porsche's path appears to be on.

The execution of the rear tips look tastefully distinctive, and if the rwhp is accurate should make an awesome upgrade.

Now that is one sweet looking exhaust system! I was going to upgrade the pipes on my order but I will have to rethink this now that I see these pics. Do these prices include install costs?

Wow! That is more like it!

9ff is my favorite german tuner. It seems that while everybody else is busy with bling bling (techart, gemballa) 9ff are quietly cranking out the hits. This looks like a worthy mod that while adding a healthy dose of real German HP, also manages to improve the cars appearance in a meaningful way.

Personally, I find 9ff's obsession with High speeds and high power lends them the most credibility out there. I can only wonder how many of these american 'tuners' that produce air filters that yield '+20HP' from a doctored dyno setup would actually go to a test track to PROVE IT!

The price is actually very reasonable as well...I remember when you could spend $10k on your 911 and maybe get 20HP.

Kudos to 9ff. They are represnting the Cayman very well. Keep up the great work!
