I was disappointed to find out that the Cayman S would not be displayed at the auto show this week in Miami Beach. Why wouldnt Porsche want to display the car when it is already taking orders for sale?? Anyone know?
Most autoshows are organized by local dealership councils. Only a handful are truly manufacturer supported (even the great Chicago autoshow is a dealership sponsered show). The dealer council will ask for specific vehicles, including concepts, to be trotted out for their show, and the manufacturers will respond based on the volume drawn to the show and vehicle availability. If San Fran and Des Moines have shows in the same week, you can bet on which one will get the cars. Very often low volume dealers won't have a big say in what is included or not in the available floor space. It's a shame but that's the breaks.
The S Florida dealers tried to get a Cayman at the Miami show. Obviously it didn't come off, probably because PCNA decided to stick with the Detroit/LA launch and delivery schedule. If the car isshown offically at Miami, why not start selling them??? S Florida is a big market, but evidently not big enough!
The Petersen has this thing, first one to correctly identify it wins a Porsche pen-on-a-lanyard (just a plastic pen - but it is a Major Award!! Sorry no leg-lamps available ; -)
