hello my friends,
today was the day , i picked up my cs directly in the factoryin stuttgart-zuffenhausen...the mekka of porsche-maniacs.
i arrived about 745 in stuttgart, got in the 'new car delivery lounge', brought my papers and number plates, drank a fresh coffee and at 815 an porsche -ist picked me up and took me and my friend to the delivery hall in the 2nd floor.my car was the only cayman this day.the other cars were all kinds of 911 and boxsters.they deliver about 30 cars a day in general.
the car was introduced to me and the specialist explained me some things, but as you mightknow, there was nothing really new, i read the order guide like 250 times....after about 30 thirty minutes i took the car to parking place right next .until the factory tour we had some time to buy some things in the 'driver`s selection'shop and visited the museum, a really small one. there are some race cars and the so called'number one' porsche 356 from 1948 .
in the factory tour we saw the motor building hall, we had been in the building where they fabricate the 3,4 for the cayman and boxster. special: saw one finished motor at the side of the test run area with a paper on it: 'top aggregate- press unit'. some motors are more equal than others...!.
then we had been to an building where they put the motor and the nearly finished chassis together, called 'wedding'.and at least we visited the 'sattlerei', where they do leather work, seats ,dashboard, doors, etc.
at 1130 we went to the visitors casino, where we ate a perfect menue and at 1 pm we left stuttgart for 270 km ride towards home.
the man who gave me my cs, told me i could rev as i want. but i should not rev about 5 rpm for a longer term during the first 3000 km.which means i can rev until the limit but i should not do it the whole time.and certainly not when the car is cold.
on my wayi first was a little carful but aftersome km i brought the car for a few times up to 220 km/h, which i think is enough for the first day. for myself i try to stay below 5500rpm in the first 1000km.
please excuse my english! i forgot, here are my options:
cayman s
arctic,black leather,sport seats,seat heating,
sport chrono,
pasm, acc, park control, sport steering wheel, sound package,19' sport design wheels with michelin tires.
i took some pictures of my car, immediately after delivery, and some pictures of the museum, but i was not allowed to take pictures in the factory halls, if you like i try to post them here..
another cayman owner,(#7748)

PASM - Porsche Active Suspension Management
|
 |
This active damping system offers continuous adjustment of individual damping forces based on current road conditions and driving style.
The driver can choose from two setup modes, ‘Normal’ and ‘Sport’, using a separate ‘damper’ button on the center console. ‘Normal’ mode is designed for general road driving and circuits with uneven tarmac. ‘Sport’ mode is intended for smoother track surfaces, where the harder settings help eliminate pitch and roll.
In either mode, PASM continuously evaluates the current conditions while automatically selecting the corresponding damper rates from the respective set of mapped values.
A range of sensors are used to monitor the movement of the body under acceleration, braking and cornering maneuvers, as well as on poor road surfaces. The PASM control unit then evaluates this data and modifies the damping force on each individual wheel in accordance with the selected mode. The result is a significant reduction in body movement as well as a better grip on the road.
For example: if ‘Sport’ mode is selected, the suspension is automatically set to a harder damper rating. If the quality of the track surface falls below a certain threshold, the system immediately changes to a softer rating within the ‘Sport’ setup range. When the quality of the tarmac improves once more, PASM automatically returns to the original, harder rating.
