Paul Frere is the author of the book Porsche 911 Story. In the 7th edition that was publish in 2002, he stated in the introduction that was the last extension and edition he intends to write for the book that has been running since 1976. Apparently, he could not help himself, the 8th edition is on the shelves
If you do not know about this book, I'd suggest taking a look at it; you won't find more technical history, specs, and glorry/mishaps in any other book. This 8th edition includes 997 information, including engine, transmission, diff, PAMS, etc. 996 GT3 details are also included.
I know I remember reading some previous posts on Porsche books including the Cayman book (Thrill of the Chase ... or something like that).
Anyway, thought I'd start adding some P books to my library (I'm starting from -0-), and wanted to piggyback on this current post to work out which few I could start with to combine an order of 3, maybe 4 from Amazon. I know, I know Santa Fe ... I should search first, but I'm feeling lazy today and maybe some new peeps on the site have some ideas.
Anyway, to come up with the short list, I know it depends what exactly I'm looking for ... tech books, race history books, coffee table pic books, books by Porsche model, etc. ... BUT ... can anyone offer some thoughts on starting my definitive list of P books to own ... as in, if you came over to my house and had to spend a few hours sitting in a chair reading while I was out back washing the Cayman S , what Porsche titles would you be sooo glad to find on my bookshelf?
