Well it was going to happen sooner or later, but on my way from parade registration to downtown I had a 993 C4S lowered with harness bar and camera mount decide that he was going to blow by the Cayman. One problem, not only could he not put any distance on me once he got on the gas and I followed but I steadily reeled him in and passed him by creating an ever growing gap between our cars. I have no clue what all he may have done to his car but I don't think it was stock from the look of it. I wonder if he is telling any of his 993 buddies at parade about this mystery yellow Cayman! He had California plates btw.
Speaking of Parade, I've already met up with several members of this site. Great meeting everyone in person!
A stock Cayman S will out drag & out handle a stock 993 since it has more power, less weight & is a better balanced platform. It'll also keep the driver much more comfortable in the process. The 993 4S (AWD)is even heavier. To my butt meter my 600 mile old CS has better handling & is as quick or quicker than my modded 993 C2. You need to go hunting for newer NA 911s if you want a challenge. Have fun & keep those cards & letters coming.
If the person in the C4S was surprised, then he was quite naive. Unless you add a blower to a 993, there is no chance they can outrun a Cayman S. They can't even out run a 2000 Boxster S!

Again, I don't think his car was stock, but it wasn't supercharged either. We were also to get a stretch where the highway opened up over a bridge and no one else was around for our little short fun run. So sleepless are you coming to parade with it being so close and all?
Are you a PCA member? Go to www.pca.org and click on the link to the Porsche Parade website and it will give you all the info. If you are in Portland on Tuesday look me up, I will be here and you can check out the mods first hand. Porsche Parade is the annual national gathering of PCA members. There is a huge Concours, and rallies, DE, autox, tech quiz, awards, banquets, a ton of activities all week long. Today there was a Ferrari Challenge race at PIR that some of us went to.

huh....now im glad i passed on the 'collectors' 993 wide body the p dealership wanted to sell me. glad to hear my cayman s is better 'equipped'... Edited by - RedRocket on 08/06/2006 6:04:09 PM
Well, for the price of a new Cayman S, you could have bought a 993 Turbo which would be 'better equipped'. And, it wouldn't depreciate, in fact, they are appreciating a bit these days.
