Last night after the opening Parade speeches, I went up to Wolfgang Porsche, the family representative attending this year's Parade, to tell him how much my wife and I love our Cayman S. I just thought he might like the feedback from a longtime Porsche owner (911's since 1979). When I told him this, he kind of jumped up and got enthusiastic in telling me he also drives a Cayman S, and in yellow! He had some name for what his wife calls that color, but it must have been german since neither my wife nor I understood it. Anyway, he laughed after he said it. But then he came back at me with the question 'So you really love it?', to which I replied 'Absolutely! It just has no bad habits, and it's so well balanced and so much fun to drive.' He again agreed with me about the car, and then the conversation broke off as someone else came over to talk to him.
Anyway, I thought everyone might appreciate knowing that little tidbit. Between that and Vic Elford, and of course, all of us, whew, what a car!
Well, the German for yellow is gelb. Was that it? Probably not as it's what everyone would call it, not just his wife.

I can also confirm that Wolfgang drives a Speed Yellow Cayman S. I think he said something about wanting the fastest color...
As you can see, it was well worth attending Porsche Parade this year for Cayman owners! I hope others among us will attend in the future! (Next year in San Diego, the year after in Charlotte I believe) Of course don't forget Croctoberfest this year!
There is a disturbance in the Force, it is the Cayman S, stirring things up!
Yes, definitely a disturbance in the force! Could be all out war between the Caymanites and the Tail Heavies! May the force be with us! What does Yoda drive?
Another observation from attending Parade...I didn't know what to expect regarding attitudes about Caymans, especially from 911 owners. This is my 5th parade, andI've seen before hownon-911 models can sometimesbe viewed. Givensome of the derogatory'discussions' on other sites, I wouldn't have been surprised to feelat least a little'second-classness' attitude. The pleasant surprise is that I've felt NONE of that...at all. To the contrary, many folks have inquired about the Cayman and how well we like it, followed by some comment about how much good stuff they've heard about it. Several are considering a purchase, even 911 owners. Wandering around in my Cayman t-shirt has sparked many conversations and inquiries. So far, all positive. Great fun so far!

I don't think Yoda drives. He can't see over the dash.

Wolfgang Porsche also spoke positively tonight at the awards banquet. I was going to try and get an interview with him but the banquet drug on and in fact is still going on and we needed to get back to the hotel to crash for tomorrow's events so I'll look for him later and see if I can line something up.

Okay, maybe he lets the Wookie drive while he sits in the passenger seat.

Porsche Parade is the annual Porsche gathering for the Porsche Club of America (PCA), as such you must bea PCA member to attend. While most PCA members are living in the United States, there are members overseas and you can join from overseas as long as you associate with a region in the U.S. as your 'home' region. See the PCA website at www.pca.org for details on membership. There may also be a Porsche club in your country already, I don't know.
