Cayman S, GT3, 993 C2 and a Honda!

We had a public holiday yesterday so a few of us got together for a little road trip.

We went to Jebel Hafeet which has been noted as being one of the best driving roads in the world (although there is a very boring 1.5hr drive to get to it).

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=109278

Here's a few pics.

I was good for me to drive both the GT3 and the CS back to back - only problem is, they are two very different cars. I managed to get the GT3 hooked up far better this time and got hardly any understeer and was able to press on far better. The owner of the 993 (as is the owner of the GT3) instructs for the Porsche club out here so they can hustle them about and I stayed with him. I know the GT3 is the faster car but I was pleased for only my seond drive.

The best run was when it was the 993, the Caymen S (being driven by the GT3 owner) and me in my Honda. My turn to be the pace setter and you couldn't have got a *** paper between us. It was balls out driving as there is little or no traffic, no plod and no cameras. Very exciting. Have to say I was extremely pleased with the S2000s performance given the company as they were all pushing hard. Saying that, when I did the run in the Cayman S, it is a lovely car, very balanced and oodles of neutral grip and was able to push out of the slower corners easier as I didn't have to change down to first (as in the Honda) thanks to it's torque.

Stand out car? The GT3 - very special. I love the way it goes and with a bit more confidence I was able to push harder in it.

Still very confused for my next car though.

What a fun looking road - only 1.5 hours away - you're very lucky!

Ahhh - I forgot about the American colloquialism for those that are light in their shoes.

Great feedback. The S2000 is a great little car for 30K.

Yikes...what's up with those panel gaps on the front of the GT3? Did he hit a camel??

Yeah it is - once in VTEC it will hang with the Cayman S all the way. You need to wring it's neck though.

The Cayman is lovely though - far more grown up and better appointed than the Honda (even though the Honda is built well), has an air of quality from the road to the roof.

The GT3 is just a beast though. A properly fast car. Both the Cayman, the Honda and the 993 were just 'nippy' in comparison.

the s2k is one hell of a car with forged piston and all. the motor is no less of a marvel than GT3's engine. i had the pleasure of riding in a stripped out race prepped s2k on track, i have to say it blew my cayman (moton cs and r compound) out of water by a LLLLLLLLLLLLARGE margin. it almost caught up toa 997cup car.

the s2k was on slicks and jrz's, but motor is stock, no blower, no turbo, no sc.

The Honda is certainly not an insignificant car! Some may even argue that it is more of a pure sportscar than the Cayman is. I may own another one again soon...but the Cayman S stays.

Here's a vid an S2000 chasing a pair of 360 Challenge Stradales...(hope link works)
