Most european car companys will have there pricing and options for the next year out around in the summer. Just have to ask the dealerships. I know BMW always has there pricing sheetsout around July and August, and the first day you can order is September 1. Hope this helps ya. Maybe someone else here has the dates for porsche.
I asked because I am a little hesitant to get a first year build after my experience with a 2004 Acura TL, although I may just give in and get a 2006 anyway.
I was going to wait also. I wanted to actually see the Cayman in person before making up my mind, but after reading numerous articles and looking at lots of photos I simply could not wait. For me it isn't so much being one of the first to have a Cayman, I just love the car and want it sooner than later. I have a lot of confidence in Porsche being able to deliver complete satisfaction.

MMM.... didn't really consider that.
Question for the group: Were there more problems with first year 996,986 or Cayenne?
That's why we have a warranty - to take care of any problems. Having had 3 new Porsches in the past 5 years, what problems I have had were taken care of without question.
I had a 986 from 5/99 through 5/03 and put 31K miles in that time. Couple of oil leaks which may have come under the RMS 'umbrella' but did not need a new engine. Dealer fixed the car and overall reliability was quite good. I turned the car back at the end of the lease (I leased because I wasn't sure about reliability) because the residual was 10K more than the retail value of the car and Porsche did not then, nor does now, negotiate leases. I can't see any 'first model year' problems with this car. The plant in Finland has been up and running for years, the 987 Boxster has been on the production line for many months, and the Cayman engine is a amalgamation of tested Porsche technology. There are probably still some RMS issues because the M96 block has some inherent problems (tons have been written on this, and Excellence has a column in the Dec issue on the topic) which are not likely to affect any significant numbers of owners. In the US at least the warranty is 4 years and 50K which is more than enough to work out any bugs. Evidently the warranty period in other parts of the world is not as generous, however.
I heard a study somewhere...can't remember but it did say the reliability was up, well over industry standards, rivaling Lexus (which is number 1 in most parts of the study, Porsche at number 1 at the other parts) closely in this category. Both BMW and Mercedes were low in this study, like having 30% or so reliability.
