I just checked again, and the manual still has the 8 discrete position adjustments for the mirror:
Function 2 - Auto-Tilt setting for passenger side mirror ( *OFF / 1 ... 8 )
When enabled and the driver's mirror selector knob is set to the passenger side mirror adjustment position, the passenger side mirror will tilt down upon shifting to reverse gear. After leaving reverse gear, the mirror will tilt back up if one of these conditions is met: a) 10 sec. inactivity or b) forward speed of >5mph is detected.
This feature can be set to 8 different return levels, to which the mirror will automatically return after tilting down.
Setting 1 is for very short drivers, setting 8 for very tall ones. For most people setting 4 or 5 will work perfectly.
Please adhere to the following set-up procedure for best results:
If you want this feature enabled, first set it to something in the middle, like 4 or 5. Then turn on the ignition and manually lower the mirror all the way down. Next, shift into reverse gear and after about 1-2 sec shift back to neutral. Wait for the mirror to automatically tilt up (after about 10 sec.) If it points too low, increase the setting, if it points "in the sky", decrease the setting.
Repeat the above procedure until you found your setting, which means that after shifting in and out of reverse, the vertical mirror position is appropriate. After that, do NOT adjust up or down manually (left and right is OK), because the mirror will always return to the position programmed with this setting. You can temporarily disable the whole feature by turning the mirror adjust knob to the middle or driver's side position.

I checked the installation instructions and it still mentions the 8 discrete lowering positions (as the original featrues had mentioned). Is this what you meant by the new features of user control of lowering point, or does the installation manual need to be updated?
