I thought I'd include a bunch of topics into today's 'adventure'...
With the change of weather, my TPMSwas showing my tire pressure low every morning. I thought the best solution was to move our air compressor out of the basement and into the garage - where I can fill my tires conveniently as often as I like... After the compressor popped the garage circuit breaker, I was still able to fill my tires - they were down ~1.5 lbs each. However, the
TPMS was showing ~1 down in the front, 3 down in the rear. After doing the recalc operation the
TPMS got a *lot* closer. (Besides checking your pressure it seems you need to reset this silly thing as often.)
So, we decided to go to Home Depot to buy another (smaller) compressor (which we did) but had to swap cars with the Cayenne since it wouldn't fit in the Cayman.
On the way home, we stopped at the local BMW dealer. With all the 'chat' about the M Coupe, I wanted to see what the 'fuss' was all about. I've owned several BMWs in the past, but *hate* the direction BMW has gone in the last several years. Every car they produce seems to be *uglier* than the next.
So, there's the M Coupe. Does it compare with a Cayman? No. It's ugly inside and out and looks 'cheap'. Looking around at the BMW dealership - the *only* cars that looked 'OK' were the 3 series convertible and the X5. Pretty sad statement. Oh well, at least Porsche is still cranking out great cars. You might think they are 'pricey', but there is no competition.
The moral of the story? Check (and correct) your air pressure often and when you read an article about how 'fast' the latest BMW is, keep in mind it's a piece of <Picard>. `;-()

TPMS - The Tire Pressure Monitoring System provides early warning of any drop in pressure by continuously monitoring the pressure in each tire and alerting you in the onboard computer display in the event of a pressure deficiency. It communicates the exact pressure of each tire and/or their deviation from ideal pressure. This does away with the need for regular air pressure checks at the service station, which often prove highly inconvenient.
See the TPMS FAQ for more info. |
