Ordering Problem
Could anyone please explain this to me? I ordered my Cayman at the beginning of September. A couple days after putting in my order, I realized I overlooked an option that I wanted to have. Basically, I had leather everywhere in the car, and neglected to have leather on the steering column. I asked my salesperson to add this to my order. He did and told me that the change was accepted by the factory.
Today, I received a call from the salesperson telling me that the order was completed, but without the leather steering column. No one at the dealership could adequately explain how this happened--the explanation was that 'Germany' did stuff like this, and it was outside of their control because of the way that the cars are built.
So, I have two questions: 1) Can anyone explain to me why the factory could not accomodate this change that was made one month ago (and noted and accepted by the factory) and could only tell me about the failure to include the option after the car was built; and 2) The dealership has said that they will obtain the material to put the leather on the steering column and fix it after I take delivery of the car. Do you think that the dealership can do a satisfactory job of this?
Thanks for any help anyone can give on this.
