Porsche VIN # - How to Interpret?

I searched threads but not able to locate web link on this topic. What do digits in VIN mean? Can someone post this info.

I think I might be having a B-day for my CS in early '06 or late '05. I bought her off the lot unlike the majority.

BTW...I had better put my wedding anniversary in my calendar. It may be around the same time as CS. I hope they don't conflict.

. However, the CS should understand that I must spend all holidays with the wife.

generic so Finland is not in there

However, join http://www.renntech.org and they have a very cool VIN decoder there. I just plugged mine is and it came up with:

West Germany
Porsche AG
Sports Car
Coupe
Cayman S 3.4L
Driver & Passenger Airbags
Weird Stuff
Checksum
2006
Finland
7 for 987
3.4L
and the last 4 digits are the chassis number

OH ... and DO NOT forget the wife ... you WILL regret it

Someone posted a complete breakdown of the VIN #'s previously, surprised a search didn't turn it up.

As the "King of Search" I tried to find the previous two posts that I remembered as well. No dice. I'm beginning to think that the search on the new software is not as succesful as the older software.

I tried VIN and vehicle identification number. Neither worked for me.

I found it but I had to really dig... I think old imported topics are not searched/indexed the same way new topics are so over time that will get better.

BTW the reason the old thread didn't show up is that the search index was set to a minimum of 4 characters to search on. Although it is a performance hit, I changed that to 3 characters so now we can search on VIN and it should show up.
