Just went to the bookstore, found a new book 365 Cars You Must Drive.
The Porsche cars are:
1958 356A Speedster-although they have it as a 365
1954 550 Spyder
1964 904
1973 911 Carrera RS2.7
959
1997 993 Turbo S
Carrera GT
2004 GT3
and of course the
Cayman S
Nice to be included.

You should post more info about the book, ISBN #, etc. so people can find it at their local bookstores a little easier. When was it published? Must be fairly recent. So the Cayman is one of the top 9 Porsches of all time... cool... but we already knew that...
I just picked it up. They have a wide verity of cars listed, Some you would want to drive and others that I'm not sure should be on the list. Each page is a car with a short discription and a picture or two and short technical list. It was $20 at the store.

So, the 944 (or 968) didn't make the cut. It's not as nifty as the Porsches they did include, but I'll bet that it's better than a couple hundred of the other selections.
Not many 904 or 959 models running around, are there?

When I was younger I had this pc-game called Need for Speed: Porsche Unleased and the game developers from Electronic Arts had done R&D with Porsche's engineers to get engine sounds, handling nuances and accelleration on key of almost every single Porsche model from the 356A to the GT1, including the original 911RS and 550A spyder; I bought a Logitech Momo force steering wheel with paddle shifters and force feedback to accompany the game :P. That is closest I will probably ever get to driving the first 8 of the 9 cars on the list of Porsche's that made it into the book. My favorite at the time was the 993 GT2 however, what a beast.
The Citroen 2CV was there. There is no ranking just a list of cars that would be interesting to drive a different car to drive every day. They have everything from an AMC Pacer to a Ferrari F40.
