Spent time with Cayman S today

Hey fellow fanatics,

Champion Motors, Pompano Beach, Florida, received their show car last Monday, and today my wife Monique and I visited the new arrival for the first time on US soil.

The car is parked outdoors in a sort of indentation of the Building, in order to allow visitors to start it up and listen to the engine. Wow!!! Dealers have signed a contract not to drive it, but having it outside and to be able to hear it was a real treat. The 'growl' of the engine spoke to me as if to say 'please put me in gear and let me go'.

We arrived with what we thought was enough time to visit with the car and make it back for the Florida vs FSU game(I am a rabid 'gator' fan....coincidence? or destiny?) We ended up missing the first quarter of the game as we could not tear away from the car. I will be posting a few more pics in my gallery for those like me that can't get enough views and angles.

Included will be a closeup pic of the 'duel exhaust' that displays, as shown previously on another thread, that it is actually one pipe fitted with a dual tip. It was explained to me today, however, that it is, in fact, a dual exhaust that comes together into one vent, and tipped with a dual vent configuration for both aesthetic reasons and to reflect that in reality it is a dual exhaust mechanically.

The most interesting item of discussion with one rep was when the car will be released to its owner, in the event it arrives on their lot before January 15. He told me that once it is on the dealers lot, it is the dealers property, and unlike the display only show car, there is no contract with Porsche prohibiting the car from being released as soon as it arrives. He added that it has always been their practice to get the cars off the lot as quicklly as possible for economic reasons. This blew my mind since my salesperson, who was not in today, had told me that it could not be taken until a date fixed by Porshce. I called my sales guy on his cell and he was surprised, but added that the fellow who spoke to me has been with Champion Motors for years, and was usually well informed. He agreed to follow up on this issue once the Champion Motors decesion makers are back next week and will settle this issue.

I have included a pic of my wife and I taken today during our visit. It would be nice if more of us would do this as I find it good to associate a face with all these names that I have been sharing countless hours with on this site. By the way, that is the key in my left hand. It felt so good. <input width="648" type="image" height="486" src="/UserFiles/In Florida.jpg" />

If Audi doesn't want a new model released they hold them at the port and don't deliver them to the dealers. Once a dealer getsthe carand has to startpaying for it you can bet they will deliverit as soon as the buyer will pick it up.

BiggerTwin is right. If Porsche is serious about the Jan 14 release they will have to hold on to the cars. The dealers are not about to let these cars sit around on their lots.

Good Choice! Lingering with the Cayman and missing the 1st Quarter of the Gator's trouncing of the Noles. What happened to Mickey Andrew's defense?
