Pinky Lai was born in Hong Kong. He was the exterior designer at Ford of Germany, senior exterior designer at BMW Ag, Munich and design manager at BMW Technik. Munich from 1980 to 1989. Since 1989 he was invited to join Porsche R & D, Weissach. One of his missions was the 911Turbo. During its launch at the Detroit Motor Show 2000, the year's planned production had been doubled and was already sold-out. Numerous international design prizes were awarded to the aesthetics of 911 Coup (c), Cabriolet, Targa and Turbo. Since 1999 he is the chief designer of the Boxster and Cayman exterior.
An industrial designer with 25 years of experience in automotive design. Since 1989, he has been Chief Designer at Porsche R&D, Germany, and led the design team responsible for all the legendary Porsche models of the 1990s and beyond, including the Style Porsche, Boxster and Cayman.
Hell yeah, all hail Pinky! I'd figure these things were designed by committee... Pinky Lai!? What a name! I read something else with another name; though I can't remember what.
Harm Lagaay was probably Pinky's boss before retiring, but the Cayman design, not to mention the Boxster is his. Of course, the final design had input from lots of others at Porsche.
Harm Lagaay is a Dutch automobile designer. He worked for Simca in the late 1960s, then for Porsche from 1971. His work there was on the Porsche 911 and Porsche 924. He worked as Design Manager for Ford in Cologne from 1977, and moved to BMW Technik in 1985 where he designed the BMW Z1 sports car. He returned to Porsche in 1989 as head of the "Style Porsche" department in Weissach. As well as the Porsches of the period — the Porsche 993 (the 1993-1997 generation of the 911 for which Englishman Tony Hatter is also credited), Boxster, Cayenne, 996 (the all-new 911 of 1997), Carrera GT — he also oversaw the company's work for external clients.
He retired from Porsche in July 2004 and was replaced by Michael Mauer of Germany.

well that explains the strange 'misnomer' name of the Cayman S (shouldn't it be called Caiman?) lol. Everyone else pronounces Cayman as Cray-man, instead of K-man.
Only those with a lesser grip on the Queens English would say CRAYMAN when it clearly say CAYMAN ! WTF?
