Just wanted to double check with people on the forum about a possible seat memory problem before taking it to a dealer. Maybe I'm not doing it right per the directions in the manual.
I set the memory by:
1) turning the ignition to "On" position (without turning on vehicle, car in gear, no emergency brake)
2) set desired position
3) press "Memory" AND "1", "2", or "3" at the same time. (I held it for a few seconds) and release buttons
4) turn ignition to "Off"
I recall memory by (after moving seat to different position):
1) turn the ignition to "On" position
2) Press "1", "2", or "3" and hold
3) Seat SHOULD move to set position.
Am I missing something? Is there any display confirmation when setting the memory? Sorry if this is an obvious question but I'm trying to prevent leaving the car at the dealership.

The steps above only work with buttons 2 and 3 (at least that's the impression I got from the manual). Button 1 is tied to your key, so when you unlock your door with it the seat will automatically position itself. To set button 1, you perform steps #1 and #2 above, press and hold "Memory", and press the lock/unlock button on your key. Yes, it's a pain because your key will probably be in the ignition.
The only display confirmation I get when setting button #1 is that the lock/unlock LED in the center of the dash flashes briefly.
I dropped by the dealership today and they had the same problem. (It was kinda funny watching the service guy go into the glove box, pull out the manual and follow the instructions.)
Apparently they've seen this issue before and they'll be taking apart the door on Friday.
I had the same problem with my Cayman and it really stumped the dealer. In addition to this, I sometimes could not open the hatch or the hood, and sometimes I would press the rear hatch and the hood would open instead. The dealer finally fixed the key problem by replacing the bus driver and the accessories computer (after 3 trips to the dealer). This fixed the key problem, but I still had an intermitent problem with the hatches. While at the Croctoberfest in KC, Stephen (Modsforcars) installed the "remote key" I purchased on the Cayman Club group buy. This can lower the windows if you hold the unlock button down for 3 seconds, and a lot of other things. It also addresses the problem of inadvertantly opening the hatches while bumping your key in your pocket. It does by requiring that the button be depressed for a couple of seconds. This finally fixed my hatch problem, strangly enough. I think that noise in the system confused the code, but the several second delay cleaned up the noise and now it works perfectly!
Cheers,

Mods4cars was founded in 2002 with the idea to add a highly demanded feature to the otherwise almost perfect Porsche Boxster: Comfort One-Touch roof operation while driving at slow speeds. The resulting product offered not only that, but also allowed quick and easy installation by just swapping out a relay box, thus leaving no traces and no permanent changes on the vehicle. The first smartTOP roof controller was born.

Just wanted to update everyone on the resolution. Took it to the dealer and they "perform(ed) vehicle handover function." Not sure what that is but it took a a day to get a part in and it seemed to have fixed the problem.
