I am trying to locate the OBD codes listed in the Cayman service manual. A service manual from an 997 would probably be identical. I am trying to write a program that will interpret the information from the Porsche on board computer. If I can get the codes from the manual, I should be able to make it read the specialized information that the PST2 tool does. Please help. I'm not looking for a copy of the manual, just the codes from the manual. If you don't feel comfortable giving them to me, can you at least tell me which manual it is in. The tool that I am writing will be free for anyone to use. Thanks in advance. Please PM me if you don't feel comfortable discussing it openly.
The base set is defined by an ISO standard and they are the same. Each vendor, however can add their own extensions. That is what Porsche has done in this case. With the right codes, I can check the ABS system and more, things that are above and beyond the base set.
I'd prefer not to buy it as I only need a listing of the codes. If I need to however, I would just like someone to confirm which manual the codes are in. My undertanding is that there are 8 of them. I'd much rather buy a single if I have to. I also can't seem to find the service site in english which makes it even more difficult to do.
The book should also include the listing for the CAN protocol.

Thanks. That will be a great resource for the DTC codes. Unfortunately, those codes only tell me what is wrong when the CEL light comes on. Very useful in one situation, but I'm looking more towards to performance side. I need the hex addresses to poll over the CAN bus. I think they are in the manual, but I can't be certain. Nonetheless, thank you for the resource. A few folks over these appear to know this area of the car very well.

OK sorry, I thought you said just the codes ... not the protocols themselves. Post a question over there. They might know.
sorry I messread your question. I thought you just wanted the codes...
renntech is your source. get a hold of the user: Porschelibrarian and ask him for the OBDII Manual. It will have what you need. He has all the Cayman S manuals as well, and the Sport Chrono software, etc that might be fun to play with.
