How many Cayman Club members also belong to the PCA? Is is worth the $40/yr? What are the practical advantages of membership in the Porsche Club of America? There is no doubt (in my mind) that I have learned a great deal, gotten a lot out of, and certainly found it well worth making the donation "here" to help things along...I am trying to justify the PCA affiliation but I have trouble seeing it at this moment. My G_d I must belong to and support 81 different organizations, so, before I take a second job to support "yet one more" I'd like to hear some comments pro and con from those of you with the experience. Should I join? Should we all join? Yes or No?

CaymanClub.Net members who are also PCA members should request access to the PCA Member only forum by filling in their PCA Member ID# into their profile and then requesting a group membership addition, both of which can be done in the User Control Panel (User CP)

It has quite a bit of discussion about the questions you're asking, including my reasons why I think Cayman Club members should join PCA. You also might want to do a further search, since this topic has come up quite a few times.

Join it. I just bit the bullet and paid for the 3 years outright. The social experience you get from joining is worth it. Also, don't forget that you get the magazine. If you consider the magazine worth $20 a year, then the actual membership is only $20. You'll make it up quickly with the discounts.
Plus, why not support the organization that has a lot of weight with Porsche corporate. PCA and this forums are great places for knowledge and the money you spend to support both organizations present you with immediate return of investment in tons of knowledge.
I was actually expecting PCA membership to cost hundreds of $ per year, when I saw the low $, I though that was a mistake.

I think it depends on how your dealership views PCA and what the local chapter is like. Some are great and well worth it. In my area, it seems as though the membership predominantly is into duct taping track cars together and looking for discounts from dealers and local Porsche specialists. There are just one or two recent model year Porsches sprinkled amongst the active membership from what I've seen. In my area, there are a lot of members, but only a small percentage would be considered active. If you want to know how to change the water pump on your air cooled 993, PCA may be of service. If you want to know about how-to and things Cayman, CC is the right place. PCA members may be considered personas non-grata by some shops/dealerships as they expect an additional discount or a free t-shirt. (An opinion shared with me by a few at my local dealership. I have been freely offered a discount based on my relationship with the dealer void of any other association -- maybe just lucky. ) You will probably get better discounts from Cayman Club group buys than you will from PCA. That said, they do put out a nice publication, and usually there is a local "chapter" publication as well. For my part, between Christophorous, Excellence, a few on-line publications and Cayman Club, I have all the Porsche reading I need/want. I suggest trying it out and seeing how it goes.

Remember that Cayman they raffled off in December? Well you had to be a PCA member in good standing to have a shot at it! Turns out a friend of Beez's won it! Hmmm seems worth the $$$ to me.
While it is true that every PCA chapter is a little different even if your local chapter isn't all that active you CAN request to be placed into the membership of a different chapter (perhaps one more to your liking) and you will still receive all of the national benefits.
There should have been a PCA membership form to join included with your car and if not simply go to the home page here and click on the PCA logo to be taken to the PCA site where you can join instantly.
BTW, this site also happens to be the PCA Cayman Register and as soon as our new developer finishes up our registry software our registry will be back online! Woot! Can't wait!

I did it. I've already gotten the magazine and my local also has a printed magazine. Haven't been to a function yet, but did get discount at the BMWCCA autocross as we have a reciprocal agreement with them.
