I want to keep my car covered while in the garage to eliminate dust as I live in a new housing project with on going construction. Porsche wants $460 for their indoor cover. It does have mirror pockets and a soft lining on the inside, but I am looking for something simple, lightweight andeasy to remove and replace.
Also check out www.autosportscatalog.com. A bit less expensive for the same items as others. Both Griotts and Autosport should be site sponsors! Maybe K-Man-S will prepare a form e-mail we can send to them and others when we are about to do business with them that asks them to advertise here?
Do you remember what website had the garage flooring mats. I think they were something like 9' x 12', and came in several colors. I lost the bookmark somehow.
Check out Suncoast Porsche.Factory covers for the 997/987 are around the $259 / $279 range. They list the Boxster cover as the one for the Cayman......but I would think it would be different......who knows. Anyway, $460 is nuts for any cover........but I would probably pay the above to have the factory cover......had one for a couple of older models and they are top notch.
No I thought that I would have too much dust getting under them and too much slush getting on top that went with the mat. I can easily drag it out and clean it off each spring. 2 71/2' by 17' worked for me. I will add another to my third bay which is my shop (hideing place). After looking underneath the Cayman and admiring it, if I could keep it clean I'd almost go for a mirror to park over. But alas not off of a gravel road.
I went to my local auto parts store and got a generic cover for about $110. It is the Evolution fabric so it can be used outside but I have only used it inside. I have used it on a WRX, M3, Z4, Corvette and will use it on the Cayman as well.. Its not the prettiest thing in the world since it wasn't custom fit for any of the cars but keeps the car clean and dust free. If space is a problem you will probably want a thinner material.
