With a little over 1000 miles on the CS, a road trip is in order this weekend. I just can't wait to be able to take it to 6K+ RPM so miles are important.
.
Plan is to stay on 101 and Hwy 1 all the way from LA to Big Sur. Anyone have suggestions about "not to miss" places to eat? Hope to see a few Cayman's enroute.
Try the Ragged Point Inn, north of San Simeon, and don't miss the elephant seals at Piedras Blancas. And if you want a better Porsche ride than 101 from LA to the Central Coast, go up I-5 and take either 166 or 58 over to 101Marty
I wanna take the CS on my beach trip over this long weekend, but it's at the dealer's getting recalls, CEL, air conditioning, and rattles resolved. It sucks too because I recently just learned about this scenic drive from Guana River State Park to St. Augustine along A1A.

CA 158 and CA 166 are both somewhat remote, especially 158. Can be a lot of truck traffic on 166.
You might consider taking I 5 to CA 126 and go west to Santa Paula. Picking up CA 150 will give you a nice mountain run through Ojai and deposit you back on US 101 in Carpenteria. From Santa Barbara you can take CA 154 through the SB wine country and pick up US 101 south of Santa Maria.
At Big Sur both Ventana and Post Ranch Inn have spectacular dining room views, but they are rather pricey. Sounds like fun and I bet you don't see another Cayman.
In addition to Ragged Point and the Elephant Seals, If you can time it right, The Moonstone Resturant on Moonstone Beach in Cambria is great. Out doors across the street from the water, great food. If the weather is bad they have indoor seating.
Can I just mention how jealous I am of you right now? My CS is stored under a cover in a garage for the winter. It's just below zero with some light snow at the moment...wanna trade? I promise to be nice until the break-in is completed!

I drove down hwy 1 from a track day at Laguna Seca last Tuesday to Orange County. The first 100 miles or so from Monterey were the twistiest, most fun sections. I had a great time and i'm sure you will as well.
My wife's uncle owns a great Pizza and Italian Place in San Luis Opisbo called "Nucci's" Great Place! I am going to do the same trip in the opposite direction...starting in Santa Cruz and driving to LA sometime around Fourth of July. I can't wait! Enjoy!
Chris R.,
If it makes you feel better, it's below freezing and rumors of light snow also where I am... and I live in the San Francisco Bay area!!! Damn is cold out these past few days. I'm afraid the vinyl top on my Miata is going to crack!
Thansk to all for their suggestions. Unfortunately the trip was delayed for a week or two but I will take pics and post afterwards along with any interesting experiences!
