I was wondering if anyone ordered this option Sport Exhaust System XLF, if so can you tell me about it?
Thanks Russ
PSE - Porsche Sports Exhaust System
The acoustics of this dual-mode sports exhaust system are dependent on driving style, ranging from standard output during normal road driving to a more aggressive tone during performance use. Modes are selected using a button on the center console (or ‘Sport’ mode button on vehicles with optional Sport Chrono Package/Sport Chrono Package Plus).
Introduction planned for 04/2007. Some models may require additional components. For detailed information about this product, please contact your Porsche dealer.

When I was at the dealer a few weeks ago, I asked about it and they knew nothing because I was considering it over an aftermarket exhaust.
My salesman specifically said multiple times to forget about it. All it did was add noise ... cutoff the noise between 30 - 45 mph, and would costs near $1000 to install (its not just the mufflers but a button in the console).
It will be interesting when someone actually gets one to hear a soundbite.
I kinda ordered it. I ordered my car in Sep and was designated December production. So the order for the Sport Exhaust System was refused by Porsche Germany reported the agent. As mentioned earlier, car production got delayed to January production and one would assume that since production was delayed to the month the exhaust is released, it would be installed, apparently not. Its ok, Im not sad anymore since it does not add a single HP. If I do get it, ill post some clips!

It sounds like it could be a nice option. I just wasn't sure how it worked, just increase sound? Or would it also increase performance. I will be interested is hearing more about it once someone actually gets it on their car.

Thanks for the input!

The word is, if it works like the PSE on all other Porsches, is that its sound bling. It supposedly DOES sound good on a 911S. German law says you got to be quiet around town so it gets quiet in a low speed range.
Thats quickly modded ... lots of posts on how to fix that on a 911 so its always "loud".
Theres a button on the dash to turn it on or off.
Porsche claims NO HP gain.

I had the tech wire it up so that its either "on" (normal position = sport = louder) or "off" based on the dash switch, overriding the speed based nonsense. It is significantly louder, deeper, and throatier in sport mode. I have to believe it adds some HP, but its hard to tell. The car is a Tip. Was it worth $2500? Probably not but it has a certain cool factor.

I did do a search and came up with everything but this XLF option. I went back and read the previous thread and I think K-Man summed it up,
"It is a cat-back (muffler only) exhaust replacement, no headers, no intake, no ecu tuning. Usually more expensive than competing aftermarket options."
Too bad you cannot just order the whole package from the factory.
