'Top Tint Windscreen' (option 567) appears on the UK option list, but not on the US version. I've not noticed a 'green tinted band' on the windshields of the 2 US Caymans I've seen, but maybe I overlooked it. Is it one of the items that's std in the US, but a ROW option, or is it just not available here? Anyone know?
Standard I believe. I'm wondering what it does to the V1 radardetector? Mounting higher is better than lower in my experience. Some car makers leave a bit of a window behind the mirror for that but I don't recall seeing it on the Cayman.
Escort Radar
At ESCORT, we're continually improving our line of radar and laser detectors with the best technology. Our latest invention, the GPS-powered PASSPORT 9500ix, is no exception. It provides the best long-range protection against every known radar and laser gun in use in North America, but also incorporates GPS accuracy to silence each and every false alert. It is by far the most intelligent, fully automatic radar and laser detector ever designed. You drive. It learns. End of story. http://www.escortradar.com
I too believe the top tint windshield is standard. I have the same tint on my turbo and the V-1 works great while mounted up high - saved me three tickets on the way back to CA from the Porsche parade in PA last summer. Anyway, I've seen no difference in range.
Brad, sure am glad to hear that as the V1 will be in the car right after the clear bra is installed. Just finished looking at the website for it and everything there says that the higher the better and its good to hear that its proven in the real world....
hvdcman, that's excellent! I don't go anywhere out of town without it. I drove out to PA with three other drivers, and the guy in the lead had a V1 in his 2002 911. We all had talkabout radios, and I was so impressed with the performance of his V1 that I got on the Web and prdered one to be shipped to Hershey before I left becasue I was driving back to CA alone. He also had the tinted windshield,, and the V1's range was just amazing
Brad
