PDK Transmission

Any of you guys with "connections" heard anymore about the dual clutch PDK transmission? I'm curious how long before Porsche offers one .

Some background.
Porsche to offer seven-speed DSG
Cayman to get 7 speed DSG?
DSG?
Cayman and DSG - when?
Might be more if you care to do more searching but I think those are the latest.

Sapple, that line of reasoning will not cut it in the market. You want skill? Try driving a crash box, and then tell me how you would never want a synchro box, because it took no skill.

Great...Now we have two flame threads going...
1) Tip vs. Manual
2) New-school Manual vs. Old-school Manual

We are all Porsche (Cayman) Enthusiasts...Can't we just leave it at that?

Actually lets go with

Tip vs. manual
PDK vs. tip
Syncho vs. non synchro manual
Push button dash mounted gear selector vs. floor mounted
Three on the tree vs. four on the floor
Hurst shifter vs. stock
901 vs. 915

I think PDKs might be suitable for transexuals, with 6 sp for macho types and tips for chicks.

I know it was likely meant in jest but let's try to stick to the topic at hand. To answer the original question - I don't know, but some sources say very soon, like 2008 or 2009 model years.

Tell that to Michael Schumacher. The $75M/year he makes for not having any skill driving a paddle shifted F1 car should be a crime.

OBTopic: the last I heard, PDK is slated to show up on the 2008 911 Turbo first and trickle down to other models afterwards.

last i heard the ferrari f1 cars are automatic to keep the driver from over reving durring a race
what made him earn all his money was the fact that he won... a lot
this wasnt just because of the way he drives but because he knew how to "coach" his team.

hes got an island... what do you have to show for it

theres no need to be an ***, but it seems you like to push buttons

F1 cars don't have automatic transmissions.

And what made him win a lot was his incredible skill driving a F1 car with paddle shifters.

Sorry, but this makes absolutely no sense at all.

I'm not being an ***. To be quite honest, you have no idea what you're talking about here.

Sapple just learned how to drive stick shift, I'd cut him a break and let him brag a little and keep his pride. No harm done.

I would not mind a PDK transmission if Porsche and other car manufacturers provided more info such as videos, literature and more importantly courses (nominal fees) to learn how to optimise the tool.

Sometimes I think we need a Forum entitled "Children's Corner" for these sorts of exchanges. On a boating site I visit there is a forum called "The Bilge" and that really sums it up if you know anything about boats. To keep things focused, I agree with Interpol, Turbo first then trickle down. Not sure if Tiptronic will be eliminated immediately since Porsche may want to cha
