View Poll Results: How happy are you with your Cayman purchase?
I am seriously considering buying an '07 CS. I currently own a '03 Mercedes E500. It is a very nice car with 302 hp and pano roof being my favorite options. The thing that worries me is that when I bought the E500, I thought it was going to be my dream car. It is fast, powerful, good looking, handles well for its size and it can carry more than just one passenger. In the almost four years that I've had the car, I have become very bored with it. I'm afraid the same thing may happen with the Cayman. Don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to compare the two cars. They are completely different. My point is that they are both expensiive cars and I don't want to make another expensive mistake.
My question to those of you who have purchased a Cayman, is if you could buy it all over again would you? If I ask myself the same question about my E500, the answer would be no. I don't want to spend $60K to $70K again and not find myself completely in love with the car that I buy. I'd appreciate your comments about what you like and don't like about your Cayman and if you have any buyer's remorse. If there are similar threads like this one I apologize in advance, Newbies!

It's human nature to become accustomed to new things. Perhaps a few planned in advanced mods might help you keep your interest fresh longer. Otherwise, you should consider leasing and changing cars every couple of years.
No regrets, although it would be nice if someone else would pick up the monthly payment for me. I have always grown bored with the cars I've had after several years, only time will tell if the Cayman is a keeper.

Good suggestions. My wife and I have owned nearly 15 new cars over the years. I try to keep them for a long time. In cases where it turned out I didn't like the car after a few years I'd get another one. Some cars I would keep for 10 years. It just bothers me to turn over an expensive car in a few years like my Mercedes. Leasing is an option but I prefer owning since I do intend to keep a car for the long-term and I like those later years with no payments!
I can't say "I'm in Love with the CS". Cars for me come and go. I like the CS, but then I liked my 03 M3 when I bought that one. I wouldn't buy a car if I didn't like it. For me cars are a toy, and as such I get bored with them after a couple of years. I have yet to find a car that can hold my attention past 4 years. Right now, I'm still liking my CS. But recently I was test drove a Lotus Elise's and for different reasons, I really enjoyed the ride. So, my life in the CS may be short lived, or, the CS may be become my winter beater/GT car.
Just read this thread after coming back from a sprited drive. I have had over 35 cars and a dozen motorcycles over the years and the Cayman is my favorite. I buy and trade trade cars so much that my friends kid me that I get another as soon as the new car smell wears off. My Cayman is my weekend toy. I am somewhat amazed that after almost one year that nothing else strikes my fancy. I don't long for anything else. It's that satisfying. I wouldn't mind a little more power but the car is so engaging that I may just drop in a 3.8 in a couple of years unless Porsche steps up with something close, say a 3.6. I love this car!
the more i drive my cayman the more i like it.. and feel lucky to own one
Ditto, what he said

I love mine, but, given the price, the only thing i would change if i could would be 1. more power and 2. more native support for consumer electronics (ipods, satellite radio, bluetooth phone, etc...). Of course, for the right amount of $$ you can overcome 1 and 2, but then for that much cash just go big and buy a 911 turbo...
No regrets, it is likely the BEST sports car out there. As with the E500, it is totally different type of cars, you will be bored, as Merc just put in a Big V8 for power. I had a AMG C36 before & it's the same, after a few years, i was bored with it.

I love my CS so much I sold my first Porsche ('73 2.0 914 purchased Oct. '72, that I always said would be the last to go) last summer after deciding I could only really love one car at a time. Getting too old to give more than one at a time the attention (love) it deserves. Do still have a Boxster I like, but do not love!
Boredom is a personal thing that cannot be predicted. If you need to carry more than 1 passenger then you will quickly determine that the CS will not fullfill that social need when driving.
IMO, the CS is a "boy racer" car for entertaining the driver only.
