What is the longest you car sat without driving it?
I was wondering how long it can sit without being driven before the battery will go dead. I have been unable to drive mine for almost 3 weeks now and I went out this morning, uncovered my beauty and she fired right up. I don't have a battery conditioner and nevr thought I would need one!
Mine has been sitting since October 30, 2006 except for a quick one-day run in early December... I washed it the other day and put the cover on it, and it started right up, no problem.
More than 3 months, between Nov - Now. As i have been away on vacation & work + all the bad weather in the Pacific Northwest (rain & snow). Took it out last Friday, (a sunny morning) and back in the garage over the weekend. (As it started to pour again) Will be taking it to Bellingham, WA this Wed & Thurs to install the PCM 2.1. It will be exciting! Delivery May 2006, only 2,700 miles on the odometer. (Always with Battery Conditioner connected)
Started her up for the first time in three weeks, and got a nice puff of smoke for a little while, I presume that's normal for not having started it for a while?
been at FL getting roll cage and LSD since NOV. 3rd.
LSD - Limited Slip Differential
A limited slip differential (LSD) is a modified or derived type of differential gear arrangement that allows for some difference in rotational velocity of the output shafts, but does not allow the difference in speed to increase beyond a preset amount. In an automobile, such limited slip differentials are sometimes used in place of a standard differential, where they convey certain dynamic advantages, at the expense of greater complexity.
The main advantage of a limited slip differential is found by considering the case of a standard (or "open") differential where one wheel has no contact with the ground at all. In such a case, the contacting wheel will remain stationary, and the non-contacting wheel will rotate freely– the torque transmitted will be equal at both wheels, but will not exceed the threshold of torque needed to move the vehicle, thus the vehicle will remain stationary. In everyday use on typical roads, such a situation is very unlikely, and so a normal differential suffices. For more demanding use however, such as driving off-road, or for high performance vehicles, such a state of affairs is undesirable, and the LSD can be employed to deal with it. By limiting the velocity difference between a pair of driven wheels, useful torque can be transmitted as long as there is some friction available on at least one of the wheels.

4 days is the longest my Cayman has not seen me. I missed my Cayman so bad. Three days is about as long as I can take.

Do you have a garage or off-road parking downtown for your cars?
At home I park on the top floor of the parking garage and at work I park in in covered parking lot. If it snows harder I cover the car with my Carcraft Noah II cover.
I also bought one of those pesticide sprayers (1gallon bottle with a pump and spray nozzle), so I just put a bit of shampoo and spray the car off after a "salty ride", than rinse it with some hot water same way. Since I waxed it with that salt water boat grade Collinite wax, I don't worry as much. Water beads and runs off fast, so it does not freeze on the car.
I also covered underside and wheelwells with silicone tire gel (as per advice I got on detailing forum), so snow and grime do not stick at all.
It is just too hard to not drive it. I have another tire-roasting car, but it just does not corner or glide like a Cayman.
