My CS was delivered about three week ago but due to my travel schedule and bad weather I did not pick it up until last Thrusday. We have had record lows in New Engalnd so my first drive home was in sub zero temps. I am sure that the engine loved the density of the cold air however.
I have about an 80 miles trip (in Vt nothing is close even though its a tiny state) to my dealer with a nice mix of interstate and mountain roads. Enough road to get a good feel for the car and in a word this car is first rate (ok two words). To put things in perspective about two weeks ago I experienced some serious buyers remorse and almost called the sales guy to cancel. However, when I was about halfway home last Thrusday I had the very real sensation of thinking the the car is worth every dollar we must pay for these things.
I have had a few high perfoming cars and I believe nothing compares to this car. Even though it is too early too push it, the car is clearly tight, fast and handles like a dream. All these wonderful attributes will only improve post break-in. For those of you who are having second doubts get past it or you will miss owning a truly great car.
During the drive I probably messed around with the on board computer too much which is a diversion from driving. It is not, by the way, the most intuitive program in the world but after a few minutes tinkering it all makes reasonably good sense. The only clitch I experinced was having the tire pressure light go on. I was only 5 minuted from the dealer so I returned to get the low down and he explained that the monitoring system needed to basically sync up. I suspect the tempurature differential of about 60 degrees between the warm delivery room and the outside did not help.
As for dealer behavior I wold say that my guy was at best average. I have yet to experience customer care superior to what lexus provides and they remain my bench mark. My dealer was well below that standard. I expect a little special tratment with high end cars and I think I got the bare minimum - nice guy, fairly competent but nothing special.
I have since put another 200 miles on the car road salt be damned. I love this car and really look forward to putting some miles down.

Maybe its a NE thing? My dealer was superb .... they even referred to themselves as a "boutique" experience separating themselves from the BMW dealer in the same building. In fact, everytime we have been there, we got free lunch
Ive experienced the opposite scenario. I find i get superior service at my Porsche dealership over my Lexus dealership.
When i picked up my 06 GS 300 awd, the car wasn't the cleanest inside/out and the interior dome lights were not screwed in and the plastic part that covers the bulb was hanging down. The tip of the right side exhaust was loose and hanging crooked and the car was missing tools from the tool kit.
I found out through my investigation that an inspection wasn't even done on the car. WTF...pay $$'s for nothing. I wrote a letter to Lexus Canada to get things straightened out.
I now take my Lexus to a differant dealership for service.

How does that saying go? "I used to think Porsches were overpriced -- until I bought one."
You'll love your car -- and it only gets better!
And by the way, my wife and I just got home from an afternoon in the Boxster -- California sunshine, 80 degrees, top down, T-shirts, leisurely winding roads through the Sierra Nevada foothills, beautiful mountains above us, incredible car beneath us. Life is good.
California and Cayman's whata state to own a Cayman or any Porsche! Living in Ohio we have **** for weather, not a decent road in the entire state to drive on, and as far as scenery, we have corn fields! My wife and I go to California at least once or twice a year and I'm envious of the entire state.
I prefer visit than living in CA. I moved to Socal in '95. I worked in Irvine and lived in Laguna Niguel for a bit over a year, I hated it. I missed the rain and the greens. The ocean water is too cold for my liking and skiing in Big Bear is too hot.
But I have to admit Ortega Highway 74 is a blast to drive especially at nite where you can see on-coming traffics way ahead.
I have lived in OC my entire life (save two stints in purgatory, AKA Bakersfield and Los Angeles) and I will not ever move. I work all over the country (currently in WI) and have "enjoyed" the seasons folks always reference, and you can keep them.
Sacrificing 4 to 5 months a year of outdoor activity does not interest me at all, but to each his own.
BTW, we do have four seasons in CA: fire, flood, earthquake, and riot!

WHAT? free lunch? porsche dealerships here in my area are "very" not user friendly. i'm jealous.
I don't have much experience buying other high end cars, as all 5 of our >$40k cars have been Porsches, all from our local Tucson dealership, but I've been thrill by their attention and service. As for being "worth it..." need I point out again, ALL 5 OF OUR >$40k CARS HAVE BEEN PORSCHES! And Tucson is also a wonderful place for these cars -- no snow, little cold, tight winding roads, open highways, moonlit drives in the desert, miles and miles of beach (just no water... ;-D)!
LOL Conrad.......Out here in SoCal desert...... I wish more ppl were thinking like you.....then maybe it wouldn't be faster for me to drive 20 miles out of my way to get to work...It is actually as fast to go half way down Cajon Pass and then go north on the 15 to get to work over taking city streets from the get go.

Heheh… I took as a compliment, Gentlemen. I wasn’t born as a Yankee, but I love the harsh winter of New England. From Maine to Nova Scotia, that is where I belong.
are nuts.
