I don't think the volume is louder per se, but it does have a different tone to it. Your local dealer should be able to let you listen to both cars back to back or side by side whatever works.

Both variants of the Cayman use the same exhaust baffles. From the time I spent in both, I didn't notice any more exhaust sound in the 3.4L, but the 3.4L did have a lot more intake growl and therefore it made much more engine noise when accelerating hard. When cruising, both seem quiet.

Both the 2.7 and 3.4 have great exhaust notes, neither is louder IMO just different. Dare I say.....I actually like the 2.7 sound slightly better than the 3.4. Can't put my finger on why, just do.

well

I think the 2.7, since it is smaller, is a higher reving engine (sometimes funner) versus the Ss and thus seems a little more high pitch..

I think it's because the 2.7 sounds a bit gruff to me, where the 3.4 sounds more smooth.

In times like these, I try to keep this in mind, and not let my imagination get the better of me.

And it only took seven posts to have someone mention what everyone else was thinking! This forum is the height of formality!

Well, it certainly is nice to "finally" have a respectable forum with some decorum maintained.....Just have to visit the other mickey-mouse forums out there to actually appreciate our club...

What I like the most here is the sense of belonging that this club provides...All we need now are faces to go with the screen names...Now, tht would make a family....!!!

p.s: I was surprised the screen name slipped past the admins....

Uhg.... How embarrasing..... I get so excited to help people I sometimes miss the obvious.

First post, obviously joking screen name and a question that on other forums would have started a war between 2.7 owners and 3.4 owners (that kind of stuff doesn't work here).

Troll 1 - Gator Bite 0

Nice one. You slipped it right by us.....
