Not a problem. The 1978 Lamborghini Countach LP400 did 0-60 in 5.6 sec. and topped out at 170mph. Road&Track says the 2.7 does 0-60 in 5.3 seconds. You would still give it a run for the money at the stoplights. Next time one pulls up beside you, hold your head high!
Just this morning I was going through the local Taco Bell drive-thru, and as I was pulling away from the window I stopped to let a lady cross in front of me. She says "Thanks, nice car!". Oh, what a feeling!
When I first got the Cayman, lots of people asked me that question. I told them that I didn't know, as I don't pay attention. I drive the car because I like it and it doesn't matter if some stranger looks because they like it. But......having said that, I was curious when I bought the LE Boxster. So I started to notice. It seems that I get so many more looks when I am driving the Cayman than when I am driving the blatantly orange Boxster. I would think that color, if not the car, would generate a lot more looks?!?! Anyone else have any thoughts on that? Do you notice people looking...or do you even care??
In November, while importing my CS into Canada from the U.S., I was a little nervous having never imported a vehicle before, so as I appoached Canada Customs with some trepidation. I was told to pull under the canopy and go inside and produce the necessary paperwork for proof of ownership and title and of course to pay the taxes due. The Custom's Officer smiled at me politely as I handed over the paperwork. She glanced at it and said, "A Porsche Cayman S...really...I've never seen one before. When we're done here, do you mind if I come out and have a look at it?" Of course I replied that I'd be happy to show her the car. As she left her wicket, the two other officers overheard our conversation and they followed us out as well(which left one custom's employee inside with a line up of waiting people). Well, she spots the car and begins to rant and rave about the car, as do the other guards; then she asks if she could sit in it and hear the engine. She reaches down to her belt and takes it off so as to prevent any of her gear from scratching anything and another guard gets in the other side. After about 10 minutes of general chat about the car, they send us on our way. They could of cared less what we were bringing back into the country...all they wanted to do was see and experience a rarity in our relatively small Ontario city. If this was any indication of what kind of attention to expect when I take it out of hibernation in April, it should be interesting.

Dang. I wish I had known that a few days ago.
My memories or the Countach are on the Autobahns in Germany. If you were over in the left hand lane . . . doing maybe 120 mph . . . and you saw a set of lights flashing and heard a rumble . . . it was probably a Countach. (Porsches were a lot quieter than a Countach.)

What city was this?

I usually get compliments daily when I drive the CS. But most of the time you can't even see me in traffic between the Hummers, Escalades and duallies. Sort of like a stealth CS!
what i notice is lot of people who TRY not to look, or give "dirty" looks. honesty of kids though - almost every kid i drive past checks the car out. but with adults, usually young men, tends to attract the wrong type of attention.
funny thing happened a week back while i was coming back to my car in multistorey carpark. noticed a 350Z parked next to me and couple walking in front were talking about the porsche. then i realised the 350z was theirs. rather than look get in your car and drive off the couple must have thought there was no chance on hell the owner of the porsche would be back at that time. so they start properly analysing the car. guy's partner notices me coming upto car, goes to tell him but -- TOO LATE i pressed the key fob and seriously felt sorry for the dude he got the shock of his life. no eye contact, nothing, we just get into the car and drive off (without any drama like revving engine)
SMOOTH
proves a point. 350Z owners dream of owning a cayman

That's funny. I had a guy helping me put some things in the Cayman, and it wouldn't fit in the back. So I popped the front. He asked where the engine was. I told him it didn't have one. He just kind of looked at me funny and said 'Oh...'. I just drove off without elaborating. On second thought, I'm starting to think my car must have an engine....does it?!?!?! I have been told once or twice to RTFM. Will that answer my question?

Okay CMS4RS,
Do you really own and insure all six of those cars listed above, or are you counting all the cars in your neighborhood?

Don't miss it too much! My CS is tucked away in the garage for at least 14 more weeks and my Subaru looks like it just went through a snow storm that was mixed with mud! Then summer comes and the mosquito's take over. Six kids went missing just last year from the area due to being carried away by the pesky creatures - they're issuing hunting licenses for the bigger skitters - 2' and over. The rest are catch and release.
