Do you get a lot of "looks" when driving your Cayman?
When I first got the Cayman, lots of people asked me that question. I told them that I didn't know, as I don't pay attention. I drive the car because I like it and it doesn't matter if some stranger looks because they like it. But......having said that, I was curious when I bought the LE Boxster. So I started to notice. It seems that I get so many more looks when I am driving the Cayman than when I am driving the blatantly orange Boxster. I would think that color, if not the car, would generate a lot more looks?!?! Anyone else have any thoughts on that? Do you notice people looking...or do you even care??

One of the best was recently I got the classic roll down your window hand gesture, and the "what kind of car is that, a Ferrari?"
I just smiled.
The best one had to be a year ago while I was parking. Someone called the Cayman a saturn. Again, I just smiled and politely pointed to the crest on the hood, and then I said, "Yeah, its some saturn!".

Yes and no. I do get a fair amount of looks, head turns, pointing, and even a few kids with camera phones snapping shots. Then there are others who seem oblivious to the car as if it were invisible.
The best was when I was in Germany. I felt like freaking rock star, which was slightly annoying at the time, but in retrospect it was a lot of fun. Everyone in Germany, and I mean everyone, stopped in their tracks to watch my Cayman go by.
We were at one stop light and two younger (15-17) girls road their bicycles in front of us and muttered something in German to each other. Ina (my GF) started laughing and said, "she just said 'Woah.... Look at that.... That's the cooooooolest car I've ever seen.' Young people, old people, girls and boys alike all looked. It was fun.

Couple of days ago at the grocery store...I was walking out to my car with my wife and noticed a couple of teenaged guys admiring it. As we started to get in, one of them said "DUDE...your car is SO COOL!". It was funny and flattering at the same time. Since then, wife has started calling me Dude.
My Cayman gets some notice, but not as much as my wife's LE Boxster S. Since she drives it's easy for me to pay attention to the surroundings, and many people turn to look at the car, a few even ask about the car at stoplights.
Just left work and stuck at a light. A guy pulls up next to me and rolls down his window waving both hands at me, giving two thumbs up, etc. I take a better look and it's a guy who had to be in his 80's, driving an old beat up four door Mercury sedan, hearing aid in each ear, etc. His comment?...."That is one beautiful car, I sure do like it!" I thanked him for the comment, but just had to laugh a bit......the Cayman is loved by both young and old!
I get the looks all the time. But since its been in storage, not so much which is sad.
I think the best one of all was taking my sister to the airport. I pull over to the side, pop the truck, get her luggage. We are standing there talking and this guy comes over. He introduces himself and shakes my hand. He goes, sir, that car is incredible. He goes on to tell me that he is from Germany and just loves the Cayman S. He asks if his wife can take pictures of the car, I said sure go right ahead. She took a few pictures and they were off. My sister goes, "did you know that guy?" I go come on, she replies "ah, its a Porsche thing...." I just smiled....
I'm still not used to the looks I sometimes get at stoplights. The Cayman definitely stands out on the road.
My funny incident happened while I was on the road passing a shopping mall parking lot when I noticed a bright flash of light from my right. What the hell? We have red light cameras at intersections and I wasn't going by any intersection.
I slow down and check my mirrors and saw someone on the sidewalk with a camera. Whew!

When my car still had the dealer plates I caught a woman my age rolling her eys and smirking. I could hear her thoughts. "Middle-age crisis car"
Pretty funny considering I have driven fun cars from the day I could afford them.
Once a mom in a car with her husband and family said "My son wants to know what you do for a living, because he wants to be able to buy a car like yours someday."
The dad was smiling, no doubt proud that he had raised his son to have the right attitude. Plus, their SUV was more expensive than my car.

It seems like every time I go to the grocery store, some middle aged woman makes a point to come up and compliment my Cayman. I think it is just the Newport Beach cougars on the prowl
I really do get a lot more compliments for my Cayman than I do for my F430. Maybe it is not as intimidating or maybe it is just the fact that there are probably more 430s than Caymans on the street around here. Either way, the Cayman is Porsche's best looking car, which ranks it pretty high as best looking car on the road.

Also, I am extremely good looking, so that helps.
Do they still cash alimony checks at "The Quiet Woman" on PCH? LOL.
