I’ve always thought that Lexus excels at designing a car’s interior. But when it comes to the car’s shape, I wish they would do something more noteworthy, more aggressive.

Perhaps it is just me, or a bias toward German cars, but I've alway thought of the Lexus as an old man car and kind of boring. Much like a Buick. I think they have the highest average age of any new car buyer for a luxury brand.
Would not ever trade a Cayman for that. Not that the IS-F might not be a fun car, but I don't like the front overhang much and it certainly is more of a sporty sedan than it is a sports car. Will be interesting to see how they sell after the initial rush is over.

It is the same comparison of CaymanS v M3 or C63AMG, Audi RS4 etc.
No front engined sedan can have the same feel and overall performance of the Cayman. If acceleration and speed in a straight line if what you want then go for the powerful sedan. If it is performance on any tarmac road or track then the mid engine Cayman will always be better.

I don't get it! To begin with, why would one trade ANYTHING with two seats for ANYTHING with four unless they NEEDED the extra size? After that, why go from a Cayman to anything except maybe an Aston or R8? There is certainly nothing Japanese to go sideways to, especially not an electric blue Lexus no matter its specs!

That and maybe Mercedes. We "old farts" like big cars.
That Lexus looks fine but I will stick with a Porsche.

A few months ago I prevailed upon my dad to replace his Volvo with an IS (though not an IS-F), and his has the sport suspension too. So how does it compare to the Cayman? It doesn't. It feels ordinary -- nice, tight, but ordinary. Road feel is through mittens by comparison. I mean, it feels like a sedan. Because it is a sedan.
Anyway the 'rents are thrilled with the car, so good choice for them.
