I owned a 911 (996) in the past, but it seems to me that the Cayman is now the truest expression of the Porsche ideal.
Here's my question: How do I convince my better half that I need "another" coupe--and that $70k or so is a rational price to pay for a car that is (a) no bigger than a VW Rabbit (her words) and (b) 120+ HP, a 2-doors short of an M3 sedan?
So Caymanofile, how do you justify the price tag, and does it really work for a daily driver? Sorry to be such a newbie, but I'm genuinely looking for some answers--and the courage to put my money where my heart is.

If you have a new XKR then you've already exhibited the "courage" (might not be what I'd call it) to put your money where your heart is...dang, that's a lot of money for a Ford...and in true Ford tradition, you'll likely be spending much more on that dog in the future.
Your wife's right....buy the VW ....and put the difference in a short term CD...you'll need it.
