Well, after months of investigation finally bit the bullet put the order in for a CS. I am driving a fully loaded 2005 330CI ZHP. Every time I get behind the wheel, puts a permanent smile on my face. Superb handling charactertics. Not in the same league as CS but darn close. So I am having second thoughts, I do not want to get rid of the Beemer but have no room to keep them both as well twice the cost to mainatin both aarrghhh
Well, I had a 2006 LegacyGT (not quite the same league as your BMW - but I was pretty happy with it) that I had to trade-in for my CS. I felt a twinge of remorse when I turned it in, but it quickly evaporated when I drove my CS home.
Now, unfortunately, my enthusiasm has turned to Cayman Addiction, which can be a very expensive monkey on your back. (sigh)

2006 CS Tip (Daily Driver & Part-time Track Toy)
2005 Ford Expedition (to haul the CS)
2006 Lexus RX400h (wifey's)
Gone, but not forgotten: 2002 WRX, 2004 MINI
Both are great cars! Very different. One is a sport sedan, and you can accomodate 2 people in the back. The cayman is a sports car and it can only fit 2. I am not telling you anything you did not allready knew. I am highlighting these differences. How long do you keep your cars? If you tipically keep your cars 3 years you were do for a change anyway. If you keep your cars 5 or 6 years you are taking a bigger hit for a 2 1/2 year old car. If you need the rear seats, and it is your only car, keep the BMW. If you don't,...... I really like the speed yellow Cayman S

I had a 2001 330ci / Dinan3; S Package, plus throttle body, and Stage2 suspension, UUC shifter and Pulleys, along with a set of track wheels / tires and Schroth harnesses. Bought new, and it was in incredible condition when I sold it shortly after getting the CaymanS. Selling the Dinan was part of the deal, to get my wife an E92/328 with an automatic, while I traded my custom ordered, 14 month old 2006 CooperS for the CaymanS.
All that said; I miss the CooperS, actually a lot, even given it's quirks, but really don't miss the Dinan which I really expected to keep for the very long haul......
I tracked the E46 quite a bit, and it was a great car for that, but I had reached my limits with it, and if I was going to continue tracking it, it was going to take another $10,000 to beef it up and get it to where it needed to be so I wouldn't break it, and to overcome some of it's inherent performance shortfalls on a track like Road Atlanta.
The first time I AutoXed the CS, there was a long slalom, and half way through it, I thought to myself that I really shouldn't be going this fast through here, and at the same time feathered in more throttle. The E46 would have been toast, pushing like a pig at 80% of where I was with the CS. I haven’t tracked the Cayman yet, was supposed to a couple of weeks ago but we got snowed out.................
No, I can't image you'll be missing your E46 once you get your Cayman.

My Cayman S was delivered four weeks ago and is replacing an Audi S4... I to wasn't sure I was ready to completely let go of the S4, primarily for comfort, back seats as well as the weather is horrible here in Dallas right now with frequent chance of rain and ice. I just wasn't convinced that the Cayman would be a realistic daily driver. After four weeks I've driven the S4 once, and missed the CS the entire time. I'm planning on selling the S4 in 3-4 weeks after the chance of ice has subsided and have no worries about regret.
Thanks folks for the encouragement. Yeap, it will be a big hit in the wallet. I am blaming it on mid life crises. Well I did the same with E46. I hope this is the last one as it is getting expensive. Do you guys know where I can get my hair dyed?
