I can’t wait until I obtain my new CS 2009. But when I sow this race I shocked!
I think the BMW 335I is 305HP? In addition any bodies know the option for the new CS 2009? I heard it’s come with sun roof!! This video is a nightmare for me

Reason: embedded video
I have driven the 335 and it is pretty fast. But there are a few unknowns with this video. First, not clear if this is a CS. Second, it would appear that the driver of the Cayman backed down...
If you Have a to selected betwen CS And 335i ( to own)? what you will choose and why?
BMW's are a dime dozen....and as they say there are no substitutes...hand built versus machine built, 62,000 cars per year versus 62,000 per month, quality versus quantity, plus the aesthetic values, the voluptuous curves, the stance, the prowl...the list goes on my friends....not to mention those BMW forums are as stale as their cars.
I agree with MJB, I think the Cayman driver backed off for some reason because the rate at which the BMW passed him was too fast. May be the Cayman driver didn't want to push his car too hard perhaps; it was below break in mileage! He wanted to act responsibly and not street race! Keep in mind that this was a street drag race and not an official test. Also, don't expect your Cayman to come out on top in every drag race because there are many cars out there with similar straight line acceleration to the Cayman, and the 335i is one example. If you are looking for straight line acceleration, then the Cayman may not be the best choice. If you're looking for a great looking, great sounding, and great handling sports car, then the Cayman is the way to go. I suggest you test drive a 335i if the dealer lets you. I think we have the worst BMW dealer in the world here. I know because I own a BMW 330 Xi.
OK, time for me to chime in as a 335i owner, which I happen to believe is the best all-around sport sedan in the world, price dependent. Yes, I know they make the 335i in a Coupe as well, but I don't say the same about the coupe.
Stock 335i's are dynoing at 265-275HP and 275-280TQ. This translates to closer to 330HP at the wheels. They weigh in just slightly under 3400 lbs according to people who have had them weighed. Stock QM times are almost identical to CS times, but usually with slightly higher trap speeds, and also identical to e46 M3 times.
The key here though is the easy extra performance available via chip tuning. For $500 or less, you can easily bump HP and TQ another 40-60, and for $1200 another 60-80, or go the Dinan (warrantied) route for a claimed 397HP for $2000. These will get you mid 12's, 108+ QM's. With a few simple bolt on mods + chip, there are plenty of sub 12 second, 112+ mph 335is out there.
Also, in C&D's Lightning Lap of VIR, the 335i only trailed the Cayman S by 1 second, stock. The 335i handles very well with near 50/50 weight balance. In the same lightning lap comparison and others found on the web, the 335i beats the Z4M in lap times, and at Kyalami only trailed the new M3 by 1 second.
Given several laps around most courses, the Cayman S will pull away convincingly no doubt! And I'm not saying the 335i is in the same league as the Cayman S handling wise. But in most impromptu straight-line contests, the 335i (lightly modified) has everything it needs to surprise many people including any P-car short of a GT or TT, C6 Vette's, RS4's, AMG's, M's, etc...
I don't think you can go wrong with either choice. However, the 335i is not a sports car, and the Cayman S is not a luxury GT, imho. Decide which you want, or get both like me until I sell my 335
If you need to drive fast w/o calling attention to yourself get the BMW. It's smooth, fast, and comfortable. The cops do notice the Cayman, the BMW blends in w/ the pack of Hondas, Nissans, Lexus, and MBs. Some may take issue w/ that statment, but the Cayman does not look like a sedan/sport sedan and catches the eye very differently than the "pack". The Cayman, even the S, is not the top of the food chain in terms of raw HP and 0-60 times. It does offer an entertaining combination of chasis, power, and braking in a dedicated two seat coupe. It's not possible to accurately compare two automobiles without some control over the driver skills and road conditions. These videos, whether plus or minus for the Cayman, are meaningless.
No I mean they are both great cars serving 2 different design targets. I've made my choice, in the process of getting rid of my 335i and taking delivery of my CS.

Thats very well put .....!!!!
Now imagine a 200lbs lighter 335, with a more agressive tuned suspension and 6-piston Bremobs up front?
Sportscar or GT..! The CS is outdated and needs some engineering love from PAG.
You know what? I drove alot of cars before I bought my CS. Infiniti GS37, Audi TT and the Bimmer among others. The 335i with the twin turbos was the bomb! Fast, comfortable and stylish. But when I drove it I felt a little isolated from the road. Of course alot of that is by design. It's a luxury, performance coupe imho. The creature comforts made it very tempting to me. But you see so many BMWs out there and they don't look dramatically different from one another (although I think the 6 series is a beautiful machine as well as the 335).
There are alot of beautiful cars out there and there alot of fast, good handling cars too. But as far as the thrill of actually DRIVING the car I've yet to find a rival for the CS. The fun factor made it a no-brainer for me.
