An interesting thread from another forum

What some C6 Corvette folks are saying about the Cayman S. I sold my C6, but can't help peeking now and then. For your enjoyment:

Interesting observations

The dark side? I thought Vettes were the darkside

The ride is to harsh I haven't had a ride is a newer Vette but what is the Vette ride like mush? I find the CS ride soft. But very interesting observations. One individual understand what a sportscar is really about. Impressive.

There's so much of that on the Corvette Forum. It is a turn-off.

I do find the ride in the CS to be harsh....but I am ONLY comparing it to my 2004 BMW 330i, which was much softer. But then again it is a touring car not a true sports car. I would expect the Vette to be more harsh than my 330i too.

Of all the things I like about my CS, the harsh ride is one thing I dislike, but I easily overlook that, with all the other positives the CS has to offer.

Long live the Cayman!

"harshness" is relative to what your used to. Our JCW MINI was so harsh, I could literally feel every tiny bump and they hurt The CS is like riding on air in comparison. I just didn't realize the Vettes were so soft.

Two years ago I almost bought my second Vette, but decided to try the Cayman-S out first. Glad I did. I'll never buy another U.S. made car again. Porsche has spoiled me forever.

IMHO, you're being just as silly and as narrow-minded as the flag-waving crowd that says buy American because we're American. Choosing products by any other metric than merit seems irrational.

Huge German car fans and over the past 15 years or so we've had 3 Mercs, 2x SUV, 1x Wagon (wife), 2 BMW's, 3 series and M3 roadster, VW Toureg (all mine), GMC Yukon, (family car) and now CS (mine).

I love my CS but I have to say the cars that have been least problamatic from new have been one of the Merc SUV's, The Merc wagon and the GMC Yukon.

All are very different and the Yukon was purchased for towing and it's great at it's job. There are some US cars that still compete exceptionally well.

My daily driver is a 2500 Dodge Ram pick-up with Cummins Turbo Diesel, with 50lbs of air in the tires. Now that's harsh. I agree that the CS's ride is stiff or tight, but for my butt, it is by no means harsh...

I bet all of those that think the ride is harsh are talking about the standard suspension. I couldn't imagine anyone calling PASM normal harsh. It's very comfortable.

Agreed, with PASM on normal the ride is not harsh. I don't have experience w/out PASM. I've have driven the C6 quite a bit too and I think it probably compares to PASM on normal. That is with the C6 magnetic suspension set to sport rather than touring too - the C6 equivalent to PASM. I have to agree with the comments on the Corvette forum and the general consensus that the Vette has the torque and powerband that makes straight line acceleration a blast but it can't touch the Cayman in the corners. I believe the C6 is supposed to be able to pull the same lateral g's as the Cayman but you don't feel nearly as secure doing it as you do in the Cayman which just imparts a sense of confidence and security few other cars can touch. In regard to perceived speed and power; I think the Corvette's design/engine placement enhances the power feel whereas the Cayman being so balanced reduces the power feel and replaces it with exceptional poise and stability. I believe this has been commented on elsewhere that other cars feel faster than the Cayman even though the Cayman is as fast or quicker (obviously the C6 is faster).
