Red face 3.6 996 to 3.4 cayman s, am I stupid?

Hey guys

I have a 02 996 3.6 Carrera2 tiptronic with IPD plenum, k&n intake, and catback exhaust. I got a friend who is selling his 06 cayman s fully loaded but tiptronic too. Every time I drive my car. I feel why I bought a tip. I should have bought a stick instead. Anyway, I drove his car once and I think the cayman s's tiptronic is more responsive than my 02 996 also feels more rigid and of course newer interior. Do you guys think it's stupid for me to get a tiptronic cayman s from already owning a tip 996 3.6? I live in Taiwan so it's very difficult for me to find a stick shift or it's almost impossible. Also I know Porsche will come up with a new dual clutch tranny next year. What do you guys think?

Go for it. Having a tip croc is way better than having no croc at all. The new clutch probably won't be out that soon. If it is, I am getting a new car!

IMO Cayman S is a way better car than the 996 C2 in pretty much every respect. Better handling, comparable power and power-weight ratio, did I mention better handling, way better interior, more modern options, and probably in better shape, with warranty, for less money.

But that being said, if you regret owning a Tip all the time, you are a fool to buy another Tip car. Just buy a manual if you want a manual.

Personally I would wait for DSG even if I had to wait a year.

yeah, I am sure the wait will be worthy. But I am also sure the new car price will be high. Maybe I'll hold on and keep my 996 meanwhile.

Cayman manual is great. It's the only way to go, imho.
