Cayman S vs. Mustang Bullitt

Was up in CT at college for alumni weekend. here is a run of my Cayman S with remus exhaust vs a stock mustang bullitt (belongs to a friend).
both cars had one passenger...race is from ~45 to ~100 or so.

in case you didnt know...the bullitt is a 4.8 liter v8 with 315 hp and 325 lb/ft.

YouTube - Bullitt vs Cayman S

for pics of the two cars please see this thread on 6speed.

I'm confused as to why someone would post pics on that other website and not here? Is there something wrong with our gallery or forums picture capabilities?

Ken, if you look at the post on the other forum you'll see that pics are posted by Mustang owner - he probably isn't a member here

Interesting. I've driven two Bullitt mustangs (both stock), with one time being back to back with my CS. I think your friend has a slow Bullitt. Not that the Bullitt is faster than a CS, but it should have easily kept pace with you even with the Remus. Turns are a different matter though.

it was def a good race, very equal being as the cayman S is much lighter, but the bullitt has much more displacement, and 75 lb/ft of tq more. he also has a 2007 GT 500 which pulls pretty damn hard, i would need the 996TT cab to beat that!

Oh my God man.... Racing on the street.... WTH is wrong with you. Bad member....!

OK, with that behind me, let me comment. That was a pretty cool test and turned out pretty much how I expected. However, I expected the Mustang to deliver a stronger fight down low from 45 - 90.

Now if you guys had done that on a closed course where you could have at it without limits, you would have found that the faster the cars go, the wider the advantage for the Cayman S. From 100 mph on, the Cayman S will leave the Stang for dead and with every 10 mph the advantage widens. By 120, a Cayman S would run away so fast that you might think that something went terribly wrong in the Ford's engine. (I have a couple of close friends with Mustangs and know a guy who went at it with one on the highway.)

The Mustang has more power, and a LOT more torque. So what gives? First of all, a Remus equipped Cayman S is pretty close in BHP. Down low the Mustang's extra weight is using up the extra torque. Up high, the wide difference in drag coefficients just kills the Mustang (0.29 vs. 0.39).

The Mustang GT is a fast car that deserves respect. But a properly driven Cayman S will toast even the modified variants. When you compare price tags, the Ford delivers a lot more bang for the buck, but it's a one trick pony in comparison (pun intended).

i dont really ever 'street race' but occasionally it happens. im very good at wringing the CS out, but it would have been nice to hit 120+ mph...as you can see from the video, i was def starting to pull away before he let off.

Definitely...

There's a vid of my Cayman versus three other cars, and at around 120 it simply walks away from the rest of the field and doesn't stop.

I never street race. In our area (Southern California) we have had many recent deaths of kids from this practice. How can you promote it on this site by not objecting to the post, Ken? You always object to a post for a product placement from a vendor that is not a sponsor, but street racing with video to prove it is OK?

I'm confused.

Sorry if this is too critical, but I think it is important. I track my car and bought it to do so because I realized driving fast on the street was wrong. That is why they write tickets for it.
