I preferred the look of the old one better, this shape is too generic, looks like a cross between an infiniti g 35 and a hyundai tiburon

Where will it end? Pretty soon all cars will be sub 6 sec 0-60 mph.

Yep, In the 'old' days a Porsche or Jag etc was so much faster than anything else it was no contest. But here in Blighty Hot Hatchs are the thing and some of them are Bloody quick. Ok Merc, Bmw and Porsche can hit back, but speeds are going up all the time.

There comes a point where you couldn't safly overtake the other car on most of the roads i enjoy. One bit of Data i always take to heart is 30-70 times.................most HH will cover that in 6 secs, the Cayman in 4.4 the 911 in 3.8.

There are two kinds of Bloke who wants speed, those whom want to fast and those whom want to go faster than the other bloke!

It's only a TT! it's being compared to the Porsche but it's not mid engined and its slower and it just not as good looking as the cayman. It will not have behind the butt acceleration and the driving feedback that the Porsche has!

If the Cayman S is being compared to a 911 as it's that close to a drivers machine, then if the TT is being compared to a cayman S then wouldn't that mean it could be compared to a 911 aswell - I don't think soo!

New TT owners will enjoy the comparison though! but it's not a Porsche even though Audi have done a good job on the upgrade.

nope....not a rival...IMO. my last car was a TT and i loved it. i like the styling of the new TT but now way is it close to being as sexy as a cayman. an Audi at the end of the day is just an Audi....a Porsche.....well, thats just something else isnt it.

Remember the Audi TT is the first variant next there will be an S version, maybe an RS. Compare the TT to the base Cayman not the S. I like the Cayman's styling better, but different folks, different flavors. The price of the TT will also be less than the Cayman.

The TT looks good. Never liked the old styling. Too Bettle-ish.

I love competition. Keeps manufacturers on their toes. In the end, we all benefit. Better cars for the future!

Albeit they are different types of cars...but as I mentioned a while ago, I have a hard time getting back into my A4 after driving the Cayman. The Cayman is so tight and the A4 so loose.

I think the Audi TT looks great! They use quite a lot of alum to keep the wt down as well! Its more practical than the cayman with extra 2 seats(Though for kids only) Price in uk is <£30,000 for the 3.2l compare favourably with the base cayman which is>£36000. I will pick the TT as it got more torque for everyday driving and the base cayman does not have enough shove in the back. Of course I will have to sacrifice the satisfaction of owning a Porsche and a little bit of 'FEEL' in my everyday driving.

HOWEVER, I willadvise to spend a little bit more to get a cayman s as the 3.4l engine gotenough torque to test the chassis and bring a smile to my face. Just like the Z4M coupe, the future TT RS(Whatever it may be call)is going to cost >£40000 which is not their scene. Its almost like someone who swears a lot turning up to a dinner-jacket party!!!!

Before I bought the cayman s last year, I was considering the new SLK AMG, a second hand 996 3.6l and ferrari f355( This used to be my dream car-I might still buy one and keep the cayman s). I think these3 cars are the only true rivals at the moment.

Some trackday juckies might add lotus exige and tvr on their list as well!

PS: Why not compile a list of cayman and cayman s rivals?
