For street Driving Only please help pick a car

I have an M3 Smg that I drive only on streets. No autocrsoss etc

I was shopping for a Convertible like a Boxster S, a couple like a Cayman or a hard top convertible like SLK 55 AMG

I think I now like the convertible experiencebetter

So it is between SLk 55 AMG or 07 Boxster s

This car is for 1) performance driving on streets , no Auto X

This is not the forum for this but the most enthusiastic one to talk about cars

Which would U guys suggest for most pleasurable driving experience

Thanks

Hi

Test drove both. I am not sure a smiple test drive is sorting out the car that will be the better choice

Both feel good!!!

Hence I am trying to get opinions from enthusiats who have more exposure to the Boxster s and SLK 55 AMG

Before I bought my Cayman S I had an SLK 350. I drove it vs the standard Boxster and preferred the SLK. I think it was better value for the money, but if the Boxster S was the same price I would have bought the S. If I was you with your budget i'd probably go with the Boxster S followed by the SLK 350. I wouldn't consider the 55AMG because of the automatic.

remember that a Porsche will always be a sports car before anything else. a Mercedes will always be a luxury car....the benz is a luxury-sport car and has a much smoother more comfortable ride as opposed to the sporty feel of the Boxster S. I'm the driver that loves to be able to feel the road and take turns here and there harder than the normal driver on the steets and like a slightly stiff suspension. with that being said i would choose the Porsche. But if ur the person that just wants to be comfortable when driving with a sporty feel...then go for the mercedes. I personally come from a family that drives nothing but Mercedes and i was the one to leap out and get a bmw and then a porsche....and I'm not going to be getting another car unless its a Porsche.

I would first make sure both dealers provide good service. Assuming both of them were equal, I would choose the Boxster S w/18 wheels. The Boxster S will provide a more involving and fun to drive ride. If a quieter car was a priority the Merc goes ahead, if a smoother more muted ride was a priority Merc goes ahead again. Check resale value, if it is a lease or 3 to 5 year car, I do not know which has a better residual.

Both cars will be good.

I would get the SLK, then I wouldn't care if it gets dinged ...

All depends on what you value most. The SLK has a great look and straight line speed, the Boxster is the better handling and more "playful" machine. With the SLK you will want to rip from stoplight to stoplight, with the Boxster you will slice and dice through traffic and around curves with a silly grin on your face. Both are very nice......in the end you will have to make the call.....

I am with Atlas_Croc. I test drove the AMG when I getting the Cayman. It was one quick car. The AMG looks aggressive and I loved the interior too.

Handling

I guess the bottomeline from so may memebers is Amg straight line power , Boxster better in the twisties on the road

I have an M3 Smg now and I think the SLK 55 handles better in turns ( may be because it is smaller in size )

All I have to now figure is six speed Boxtser S a a daily driver or 7 speed auto in the SLK, too tought to decide

I have a neighbor than went from a Boxster S to a SLK at his wife's request.

He told me he missed his P car
