Hey guys this time I did a search so I cant be trolling. I was wondering if there were any large differences between the 06 and 07 Caymans. I was also wondering if there will be any big differences in the 08.
pfd: There have been several lengthy threads on the '06 - '07 changes, so your search should have gotten a lot of info already. Of course, the biggest change was the introduction of the Cayman (to go along with the Cayman S). I don't understand most of the technical stuff that people discuss here, but I did notice that the Cayman S went from titanium-colored front spoiler lips to body-colored (and they introduced black ones for the Cayman). And there were some adjustments to the exterior color options.
As for '08: I doubt if anyone outside of Stuttgart, Uusikaupunki and Atlanta has anything more than guesses.

TPMS becomes standard equipment for the 2007 model.

TPMS - The Tire Pressure Monitoring System provides early warning of any drop in pressure by continuously monitoring the pressure in each tire and alerting you in the onboard computer display in the event of a pressure deficiency. It communicates the exact pressure of each tire and/or their deviation from ideal pressure. This does away with the need for regular air pressure checks at the service station, which often prove highly inconvenient.
On the S, the silver exterior body accents become body color
Those are cut and dry. What's not so cut and dry are the next two:
The 2007s have 1 less year of depreciation so should have a higher resale value. Something many people don't consider when they see those big deals on the left over 06s.
There were several first year glitches that are far more likely to have been corrected in a 2007. Among them are:
The loosening flywheel bolt syndrome. Not definitely corrected for 2007, but there have been far fewer reports of this happening to 2007s so it may be safe to assume that they have corrected the design flaw. I know I have my fingers crossed as I will be ordering my 07 this month.
Chirping oil pump. The earlier engines suffered from a squeaky oil pressure regulating valve. Pretty simple fix, but still an issue.
Trunk clunk issue has been improved but not eliminated by a minor redesign of the counter weight mid 2006.
The 2006s did not vent the windows if the rear hatch was opened. This made closing the hatch difficult when the windows were up because of the build up of air pressure in the cabin. The 2007s now vent the windows slightly when the hatch is opened which eliminates this issue.
Other differences from 2006 to 2007:
Sport Shifter was available as an option in 2006 and is not in 2007. It can be dealer installed, but it can not be ordered as an option.
Seal grey was available in 2006, but not in 2007.
Cobalt Blue Metallic paint cost $3,070 in 2006. In 2007 it was reduced to $690.
Lapis Blue Metallic cost $890 in 2006, in 2007 it costs $3,070.
Porsche sport exhaust was not available on the Cayman in 2006, it becomes available starting in January 2007.
European delivery was not 'officially' available in 2006 because Porsche wanted to fill the pipeline with inventory. But if anyone inquired, Porsche would arrange it. EU delivery is available as an option in 2007 for $2,200.
Hope this helps. I may have missed an item or two. Maybe the group can help if I did.

Reason: misspellings....
FYI: in '07 short shifter IS available for order and factory install IF it is customer car (confirmed info by two dealers Napleton and Porsche Exchange in Chicago). No, those are not dealer install short shifters. But dealers are not allowed to order short shifter for the cars they stock.

TPMS is standard on all 2007 Caymans in US
you can download the order guides here and compare changes
also, for 2007, exclusive options like deviating colored stitching or upper or lower dash or carpet were added
also, alcantara headliner is a new option for 07 as well as option 404,19"turbo wheels
and the order guide says paint code E4 is Carmona Red in 2007 but in 2006 it was Carmon Red
OBE because the color is discontinued
