In-Car Camera kits & mounts

In light of the upcoming track season I've recently purchased a Hoyt Technologies Street Racer In-Car Camera kit so I can video my on track experiences.

The kit comes complete with a suction cup mount.

Does anyone have any experience with this type of setup?
Where is the best spot to mount the camera?
How do I eliminate/minimize the cabin wind noise?

Your input would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Matt

This is what I am using.

http://www.filmtools.com/gripsuccupca.html

Excellent unit with Manfrotto head. Since it is mounted on the windshield, it can't videotape the hand movement.

I should had mounted it in the middle of the windshield instead from the side.

Wind noise? Use an eternal mic that is mounted close to the engine/exhaust noise.

Suction cups need a VERY CLEAN SURFACE. Haven't had much luck with them myself. My brother and I rigged a mount out of a headrest mount and some bungee cords.

His suction cup mount wount hold the camera long enough to actually make

ploc36,

I'm going to be on the track using the new camera and mount on May 5/6th. I'll take some video and post it when the weekend is over.

Take a look at http://homepage.mac.com/smounic/iMovieTheater27.html . I mounted my camera using a ram-mount and it worked out incredibly well. There was no shake at all in the video.

Webbie,

I can't seem to get your video to work properly. Is there a particular type of media player I need to see your video?

Ditto. I've got the same Ram Mount setup bolted to the luggage stop bar. Works very well.

Ordered from ExpressMounts.com (under $50 delivered)
Parts:
RAM-B-231U (stainless U-bolt base w/1" aluminum ball plate)
RAM-B-202AU (aluminum 2.5" dia plate w/camera thread w/1" ball)
RAM-B-201U-A (aluminum 1.75" short arm w/double 1" dia socket)
RAP-319U (plastic U-bolt adapter)

BTW, my PCA Region will not permit a suction cup mount for DEs.
