That's a good question, Cosmo...I'm getting PSS9's installed on my car next week, and would like to know what the best starting point would be...I'd guess (and probably be wrong) that setting front and rear at the mid point would be the best start, but input from someone with experience would be a big help...

All right, since nobody out there is willing to share info (I know that a lot of PSS9's have been installed by now)...I'll stick my neck out...we're going to start our settings at 5 front and 7 rear...somebody out there please tell me where I'm going wrong...

Your wrong in relying on other people's settings to set your own car up. I understand you are looking for a baseline to start with, but since your car and my car are at different heights and now have different roll centers and corner weights and we drive on different tracks with different styles. We may not even have the same wheel diameters w/ the same unsprung weights. I can tell you what my PSS9s are set at, but it would be meaningless for you. You are all set. Start both in the middle and adjust as you feel the need. Spend a few sessions playing with them and see what suits you best. Make sure the car is properly corner weighted though or you are wasting your time with them. And start out with front and rear the same and only change one at a time. Them move the ratio around once you have an idea of what you like. Rinse and repeat for each track and again for street...
sorry also keep in mind that the detents aren't all equal in adjustment, and the settings at the ends are not very accurate or reliable. ie 9 on one might = 8 on another.
DaveW, I have no intention to rely on other peoples settings in order to set my car up (and I don't believe that Cosmo is either)...I was only trying to find, as you mentioned, a starting point...my intention was to try to tap into the past experience of those on this board so as to start at a reasonable shock setting...

Yes I realize that. My point is that our past experience is meaningless to you. Its not the same as asking for starting points for tire temps w/ PS2's, its really subjective and car/track/driver dependent in this case.
Example: When we run a two or more car team for a motorsports event we don't start the cars out at the same strut setting points for chassis setup testing. Even though both cars are the same make model and year. They are set on a number of different factors, including many of what I listed above, plus driver preference, track history, and weather conditions, spring rates, etc...
Your best bet is to start neutral and work out from there vs starting with somebody elses settings and trying to correct them.

Just as a starting point of reference, does anyone have an OEM chassis corner weight(s) off a stock car chassis setup as a starting point?
I have a set of the new Bilstein Damptronic PSS9 shocks and, I assume, coil over spring set up on the way.
Looks like I may also have to spring for a set of corner weight scales etc. Any suggestions or recommendations on corner weight systems? Looks like Intercomp is one of the favored systems out there. Any Corner Weight thoughts, pointers, do's & don'ts beyond "make sure you start with a very, very, very flat & level floor..." will be appreciated.
Thanks, Mike
PS ~ a forum search on "corner weight" wasn't particularly helpful.
