I just compleated my first track day with my CS. The good news, first it was at Sebring it was a dream come true driving a Porsche on the track were I remember seeing my first race in my life as a kid. I remember the long tail Swap Shop 935 like it was yesterday but it was 30 years ago. All of the people with PBOC were helpfull and nice. My instructur Terry was patient knowledgable and very informative. The bad news is I SUCK. I over drove every corner. I forgot to shift and hit the rev limiter at least 4 times I could not remember the course and I think I may of hurt my little caymans clutch, But boy did I have fun!
That is awesome; how difficult was Sebring for a first-timer? Was it a DE event?
Was your instructor Terry Reidel (user: drvreg)? I met him a few weeks ago in Tampa, great guy. I'm hoping to have him instruct me at Sebring sometime as well.
For me very difficult. I am debrifing myself now. Yes it was a DE and Terry Reidel was my instructor. I hope he does not Quit instructing after having to ride with me!
Thanks for asking. After coming off of the track on my last lap the cluch peddle went to the floor and I had to pull it out with my foot. Also it seems to be real easy to push in. It does not seem to be sliping just does not feel right when I push it in. I know I was hard on the culch because of my lack of skill and I could smell it a couple of times.
If your clutch is getting stuck on the floor and feels different after one track day; you need to have your dealer check it out. Several Cayman owners have had issues with their clutch because of the slave cylinder or the flywheel bolts being defective. See this thread.

Suneeet gives great advice here - don't wait, get the car into the dealer pronto, this probably has nothing to do with your driving at the track... they will fix it under warranty... btw, don't tell them it happened to you at the track... you were just driving down the road when it just... well, you get the rest.

Don't worry about it Steve, Sebring is a difficult course. It's nearly 4 miles and has 17 turns. It takes a LOT of laps to get familiar with the place. That's why I wanted to set our goals for the day right from the start - let's just get familiar with the track and get familiar with the racing terminology. You were only registered for one day - that's only 90 minutes of track time - and you didn't even get all of your sessions in.
All of the fastest guys at the track were all novices at one point in time. Now you've got that first event under your belt - consider your cherry popped!
Hey, In my first event, I spun my car - so you did better than me!

Thanks Terry. Your CS is sweet or sick [ i'm not sure what we are uesing for cool this week] I love the wheels. You can send me the dry cleaning bill for you driving suite
I am no track expert. I have gone four times. I also have forgotten to shift, overdriven corners, missed apex, etc. Every time I go I become more proficient, and drive better. I have not solo yet, but I hope I will in the next two times.
What do I concentrate the most. To go out and have fun and enjoy, and to be safe Who cares if I finish 5 seconds earlier. I just want to go home with everything that came in one piece, and a smile in my face.
Speed will take care of itself. Make sure you bleed and or change your brake fluid before you go next time, and check your pads. Remember if your car does not run, its an inconvinience, if your car does not brake you can die.
