VIR Track event August 30-31 openings

Late notice I know, however on Thursday and Friday August 30-31 TrackDaze HPDE has openings for students.

The Full Course, 3.27 miles will be used. Cost is $350.00. Four 25 minute sessions each day with instructor provided.

Contact info: TrackDaze Home Page

As a disclaimer, I have not run with this group before, however I will be there and instructing with them for the first time. I am favorably impressed by their web site and well organized approach.

The Potomac Region PCA DE at VIR the first weekend in September is full in most run groups, as I understand it. If you were unable to register with them this may be a good alternative.

Maury

Hi Maury -

Actually the first weekend in September (Sat 9/1-Sun 9/2) at VIR is Mazda Drivers Association - open to all marques. There are at least 3 Cayman Club members going as students, and one as an instructor (me).

MDA runs a great event, and last I heard they still had some openings.

Let us know how the TrackDaze event goes.

Spindoc, you are correct of course. Potomac DE is Sept. 7-9, the second weekend.

I will report on TrackDaze. So far they seem to be well organized, nice website and good/quick response to questions.

Maury

Spindoc, The TrackDaze event at VIR, full course, was excellent! I was very impressed with their organization, staying on time, classroom instructor, etc. I would have to say it was as well run as any HPDE I have ever done (and I strarted doing them in the late 70's), PCA included.

There were four run groups, Beginner/Novice, Intermediate, Advanced and Instructor, all with four 25 minutes sessions/day. They even had open practice for Koni Challenge cars during lunch hour keeping the track busy. Passing was allowed anywhere with signal in instructor group, no problems.

They have some VW sponsorship so several V-dubs, more Porsches including GT3RS than any other make (only my CS though), several Cobra replicas, Superformance GT-1, Lotus, Ferrari, Vipers, Corvettes, etc. Great mix of cars. My student had an ex 944-Cup car he hopes to race soon.

They also seem to have some NASA connection or at least several members. Their next VIR event is in November after I am back in FL so not sure of the date.

Thanks for the info on TrackDaze (unfortunate name for an organization IMO); glad to hear it went well. There were several instructors this weekend who'd also been at the TrackDaze event.

The Mazda Club event went well too. There were 5 Cayman Club members there: Kevin (ARCuhTEK), Rod (Rod Smith), Helmut (Hets), Price (Gamecock) and myself.

The November TrackDaze event at VIR is on a Monday, so I'm unlikely to do it. (I think the weekends at VIR are locked up pretty tight by clubs that have been there from the start, which is why the newer clubs only get weekdays.) Trackdaze does have a weekend coming up at the Shenandoah Circuit at Summit Point Oct 6-7 which I might do.
