Where was this at? The KC Region HPT event this weekend or somewhere else? Sorry I couldn't be at the HPT event, I was busy driving the snot out of my car at the Croctoberfest Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch track event.
Why the 100 octane gas? Do you have one of the switchable ECU programs that allows you to take advantage of it? If so, can you tell us about any performance differences you perceived?

Yep, your home region's PCA DE at Heartland Park in Topeka - only about 4 or5 other Caymans there, but a good time for those of us who couldn't make it to Croctoberfest.

I don't know if it really made a difference or not - it's my understanding that the CS engine is optimally tuned for 93 Octane, and the best you can usually get in Kansas is 91 Octane. I don't know that much about how the Porsche engine management works to know whether or not it could detect that much difference, I just decided that I wanted to make sure I wasn't losing anything.
So, I added 5 gal of race gas to about 1/2 tank of the usual 91 oct. to make sure I was over 93 octane. Maybe someone more knowledgable about engine management systems can tell us if I was just wasting my money.

I noticed a reasonable difference when I used 100 with my softronic flash. There was a noticeable speed difference at the end of the straightaway at my two recent DEs.

With Softronic 100 octane will make a difference, with standard Porsche programming it will not. Now mixing to get up to 93 octane is certainly fine, although you can get 92 at BP stations in Kansas.
So which other Caymans were there?

LOL. 3 of them were from STL. Ken - you missed great weather, albeit an overabundance of KS wind. My first time at HPT. Fun, fast, challenging track. I'll be back. Did I mention, T1-2 is fast! Hope you had as much fun in Vegas.

No need for 100 for an engine tuned to max at 93. Besides, even with that pissy 91 stuff they pass off as premium in Kansas, I was going fast enough by Alpha Zero to scare the **** out of me. For some reason it makes me nervous to crest a blind hill with a turn on the other side at triple digits.

Ditto - My instructor (Tom S.) kept telling me to stay on it until I got to the 200 meter marker before T1 - I know the CS has great brakes, but I just wasn't ready to trust them (or my driving) that much!
Just driving at 8-9/10ths was fun enough for my 1st time out - at least nobody in my group passed me!
Yes, it was a great day yesterday at HPT. I was driving my Boxster S and enjoyed the facility very much. I had not driven at HPT before, and Alpha Zero is definitely a bit uncomfortable. I heard stories about it, and each and every time I crossed it was interesting.
